Angry HELP! The Dealership damaged my Audi!!

So I took my Audi to the dealership to get a new alternator and O2 sensor, and they called me the next day to tell me that they had a "minor" fender bender. I went down there to check it out and they wouldn't let me see it, told me it was minor and that it would be fixed..so I took the courtesy car and waited till they closed and snuck back, and the body shop was still open and this is what I found! They took 16 days to fix it, and I went in one day to see it, and they had all the inside panelling out of my car, the back seats, the rear windows and trunk was all taken out. They told me that there wasn't any frame damage, but I really don't know if I should believe them or not! How can I tell? Can I take it somewhere where they can check it out? Yesterday a friend pointed out that the trunk is not lined up properly when it is closed and that is a sign that there was frame damage..does anyone know if this is true? Also, the dealership will not give me ANY paperwork on what parts were replaced or damaged! I don't know what to do! HELP!!!

Obviously you are not confortable with the repair they did. The first thing I would do is complain to the dealership manager, inform them you will have to report this to Audi Canada, get this contact info from the dealership. I'd then report and complain about this dealership's treatment to you and the dealership's accident, and send them these pictures. Get the cars frame fully checked over at a reputable body shop, if any additional work needs to be done to make the car perfect again, inform Audi Canada they need to cover it, if they don't, get a laywer. Best of luck, I'd be totally freaked out as well if they did this to my car!

Angry Re: HELP! The Dealership damaged my Audi!!

I am going to, was waiting to get the car back first. It will be the 2nd time I have contacted Audi Canada regarding this particular dealership. 1 week after I bought the car (used last Sept) I needed a new alternator and clutch. So they told me that the alternator was covered under warranty but NOT the clutch. I said that was CRAP because I had only bought the car 1 week prior. So they kept my car for about 1 week, trying to find out if it could be covered under warranty or not. I told them that if it wasn't, that I was going to give the car back. I finally got it covered and when I went to pick it up, they had backed it into another car (not as bad as this last time) and had dented the bumper. They offered me touch up paint to fix it. So I had to drag my father down and of course, as soon as he walked in, they offered him to pain the whole bumper! Since then, I have had nothing but problems..new rotors and breaks (which were supposidly replaced 1 month BEFORE I bought the car) new starter, new O2 sensors, fuel sensor, and temp gage. Now, about 1 month ago, the battery light came on again so I took it in, and they told me it was the alternator (remember, had one put in 10 months ago) and I told them that, and they told me that they were only GUESSING it was the alternator causing the battery light to come on and that it would be replaced and then they'd see if it still happens. Well, it still comes on and they have NO idea why! Also, when I am shifting to 2 gear (down shifting from 3rd) 2nd gear sticks and I have to usually go back to 3rd and then back to 2nd a few times for it to go into gear. I told them this but when the service manager tested drove it, it didn't happen. Then a mechanic drove it and it happened to him and so he told the service manager who told me that HE never felt it, so there was NOTHING he could do! But the mechanic had it happen to him! I have reported all of this to Audi Canada and all they say they can do is just contact the dealership and nothing else. I will be contacting Audi Canada tomorrow to report the accident but is there anything that they can really do???? Oh, and by the way, when I asked to have all of the damage on paper, they told me that No, it would not go on paper so if I ever sold the car I wouldn't have to report the damage (that was clearly over $2000) and that came from the OWNER of the dealership! HELP!!

Damnnn, that is not a minor fender bender my friend.

I would get in touch with the manager of the dealership and Audi Canada ASAP about this whole situation.

Wow I really hope that this does not turn you away from audi's in general. You really need a guy with you someone like your Dad or somebody that knows alot about cars to go down with you. I know you might and all but they totally take advantage of girls. I would talk with the manager/owner why this happened and if it was not a big deal why dont they take yours car back and give you a new pre-owned one or certify your as a CPO and extend your warranty in order for you to be a happy customer and compensate you for the damages. Which Dealership is this. They should be big boys and step up to the plate. If it happened to me I would walk out of there being arrested because a lot more damage would happen to them than what happened to my car and what kind of $hit goes on at the dealer. WOW I can not belive that they are dumb enough to damage the same car twice. Tell audi canada they sold you a Lemon practically and are just looking for excuses not to pay for repairs out of their own pocket. Make sure also that the seals of the trunk and headlight are proper because it can cause water to eneter the trunk. Also ask them who will cover the 12 year warranty for no rust on the parts that were repaired??? Audi Canada's number is 1800-822-2834. I cant belive that the dealer is so stupid and does such a thing twice WOW! Keep us posted and best of luck.

Sorry to say it Kelownaaudigirl, but from the pictures, the way the trunk looks crumppled: that car is a "write-off".
The kind of damage on the surface shows the frame a few inches shorter than it should have been. Also that would have pushed the rear-passanger-door forward into the pilar and the front door, which also would have pushed the front fender...
That kind of damage requires a stretch on the frame machine skilfully applied to reverse the force and vectors of the impact; few people are "good" enough to do that and somehow I doubt that that bunch of idiots at your local AUDI representation would know how to do it. Besides that is a very meticulous and labour intensive process which need to be tested and measured at every step of the way... it takes weeks and the results are always done to an "acceptable" level of accuracy ONLY!
I am not sure what is your level of tolerence for a fight but I feel empathy for what you are going through!
... we could go "hal-and-half" on amo... just kidding!

Another thing:
I showed your posting to my son who has worked in a very reputable body-shop for a few years. His opinion is that the repairs when they take stuff out like you described, are a sign of attempts at doing it right.
He also thinks that the damage is less serious than I thought, and the repairs can be done succesfuly.

He stated that you HAVE THE OPTION of refusing to take the car back, make the dealership buy it back from you and sell you a car off their lot with a "good-will" discount for the value of your car... worst case scenario: you may have to "lawyer-up"!

Yeah thats what I would do the two grand you lose for a lawyer vs the minimum 5 G's you loose on the re-sale of your car
