Adaptive Cruise Control for A8

Hey Guys,

I just bought a 2005 A8 L and want to instal the adaptive cruise control unit.
The car is all ready to take the unit because the steeringwheel controls and software in the dash are already installed. If I try to turn on the cruise control the program says "ACC Sensor Blocked".
I called Audi and they quoted me $3100 just for the ACC unit itself which I'm sure I can find for cheaper, but where?
Plus labour for instalation the mechanic says it would take him 4-5 hours since he has to take the whole front end off and as we all know the Audi service department is not cheap.

I'd appreciate if you guys could help me out.
Best regards,
V.
