DRLs for US 2000 A8
Hi Everyone,
I have just brought a 2000 A8 across the border; getting the DRLs working was the main priority, but the drivers door is now in pieces to replace the window regulator mechanism, which decided to eat the cable...
So I'm hoping that someone can tell me how to get the DRLs working, it looks as if we have those Xenon lights.
(I'm hoping that it's just a relay, but do not even know where they are yet)
With crossed fingers,
Trevor

Don't think there's an MMI in 2000 A8. That's the car I have. DRL wiring of fog lights for Canada is different than wiring of fogs in USA. I've heard others with same situation. There might be a wiring harness needed as the fogs are ignition activated yet turn off once low beams or parking lights are turned on. Of coure in Canada, you can just hit the fog lamp switch on dash to turn them on again. I've done some wiring to but to have that kind of interaction would either take a wiring expert or a predesigned wiring harness from Audi I would think. Good luck with it.

Thankyou for your responses, we now have a RIV sticker for the A8, but lucky!! had some good tech advice on where to add a couple of relays in the fuse panel so that if headlamps left switched on then the markers and cluster lights would go out with ignition, (the HLs go off with ign anyway)since my head was buried in a boat we paid a shop to do that while doing the mechanical safety, they were supposed to also add another relay so that HLs would just come on with ignition, but never did that, so it went for inspection with the HLs just turned on, so they came on with ignition and the inspector at Can Tire never realised that they could be turned off, so v lucky.
Car has been very enjoyable so far, comfortable, quiet, looks great and just enough power; although last night it developed a strange squeaky noise from around the serp belt / fan area, always something I guess.
Cheers, Trevor T.
