Default deciding on a new car...

ive decided that now is the time for me to invest in a newer car both becasue i can now afford one and am sick and tired of keeping older cars on the road... ive narrowed it down to a few cars and this seems like a good place to ask the question....

im looking at a 2001 a8 L with 112 Km on the car and there asking 14,500 for the car its at the audi dealer along with the other car ive been looking at wich is a a6 2.7T (01) with more km (160km) for the same amount. my only real concern is matience...wich car generaly cost more to keep on the road??

my biggest fear is can i live with an auto? ive been driving a stick for my whole driving life...ive been on the hunt for a a6 with a 6 speed in it but so far ive had no luck.

i also have a fairly heavy foot gas consumption doesnt scare me, but having to replace 2 turbos or a motor kind of does...thats why ive been leaning towards the a8

the other car on my list is a 04 s60R 6 speed.

I'm not a fan of convertibles I've looked at a few a4's and tt's. I just like larger cars

a8 is a pleasure to drive BUT,between 100k and 160k is all the maintenance for the balljoints ,tierods, the whole front parts...same parts as the a4 .then the timing belt at 144k another 1400$, all in all in 2 years i put 12000$ on it.but hey i'm done for another 10 years...

i track the car it's a 98 A8 quattro.

the best years are the ones like mine, cheaper to maintain cause a lot of parts are from the a6 or a4 but the later models are a LOT MORE EXPENSIVE...let's just say what a salesman at a stealer said to me about the a8 if you can maintain a jet plane you can own a A8 with no warranty.the model he was talking about is the next after my model....so my advice isyou think keeping the car for a looonnnnggg time then go for it but if your the guy that changes every 2 years don't go there.
go with smaller model with a good warranty left.....
