I have found a 2002 A8 with 160,000km for 9,400 bucks. Is this a good deal? I have three children, 2 in booster seats one rear facing. Can I fit all three chairs in back seat. Is the 4.2 a reliable power plant?

A good deal is relative to the condition of the A8. The engines are strong, going with the A8 quality. It's best you have a certified or personal technician do a pre-fitness examination before the purchase.

 

depends on what has and has not been done.
you could spend well over 4000 in one year, in parts alone, basically double that if you have to get it done...
timing belt, control arms, brakes, suspension, coil packs...has any of it been done?
