Glass Masters quoted me $349 for a 2008 A4 with rain sensor windshield from China!

So I got my windshield replaced at Glass Masters and they ed up and put in PWG glass instead of the Audi glass that I paid for. I had to go back yesterday to get it changed out.

I had the PWG glass in there for about a week and I can tell you it's worth it to get Audi glass. With the PWG glass, if you look at the windshield by the dash you can see the road lines distort... it looks like they are curving towards you. The mirror looked like it was a little off as well as where the vin number is shown. The top of the glass didn't look like a clean edge and overall clarity is no where near the original Audi glass.

I noticed today that there is a rip in the fabric on each of the pillars on the side of the glass. Does this normally happen when you get your glass replaced and is there any way to fix it?

That should not happen! That is the installers screwing up. I got mine replaced almost two weeks ago at Easy Auto Glass and man it was a great experience. They dropped me off and picked me up from work, the owner is a great guy and he showed me around the shop and introduced me to the guys. I will look into getting a Calgary Audi Club members discount with these guys as it is a great place and the service was phenomenal! I was very impressed.

You can take your 2010 Audi A4 to an independent auto glass shop instead of the dealer. Many of these shops do excellent work, often for less money and sometimes faster than Glenmore Audi. They can replace the windshield and, if needed, handle calibration of rain sensors or driver-assist features. Glenmore Audi will also do the job using OEM glass and trained technicians, but most independent shops provide comparable quality. Just make sure whichever shop you choose confirms they can properly fit an Audi windshield and calibrate any sensors afterward.
