Track Time Calgary

Hi guys, as discussed at the July 14th meet, track time is being made available to us thanks to Revwerks.

Rhys has decided to only offer evening sessions, so our date would be Thursday August 18 5-10pm

There are openings for 22 cars, cost is 200 and includes hamburger/pop/chips.

Our local Audi dealerships are notifying so of their high end customers, so don't be surprised if you see an R8 or two on the track, it is rumored that the only R8 GT in Calgary may also join us.

This is being marketed through Revwerks as an Audi track day, lets have a good showing.

Please notify me (Ryan) via email Ryan.McGowan@jerbelautowerks.com if you are planning on attending. I will accept deposits on behalf of Revwerks or I can give you Revwerks paypal address.

Lets be sure to fill up the spots, this lapping session will be opened to other makes after August 11 if we don't.

Price is the same, but you should really consider becoming a member

Maybe this will give me the inspiration to put my motor back together!

Re: Track Time Calgary

Is there a spectator option for this event?

seanwg 07-28-2011 12:30 PM

Re: Track Time Calgary

Any news on being a spectator?

Grim 07-28-2011 12:34 PM

Re: Track Time Calgary

I've heard nothing yet. I haven't found any details regarding being a non-spectator either. Guess that stuff was covered at the last meeting.
When is the next meeting? Anyone have notes from last meeting and are willing to post?

1move 07-28-2011 01:18 PM

Re: Track Time Calgary

As far as the track rules go Spectators are allowed but I think its something like $5 per person, not 100% sure though. It would depend on track rules for that event. The meets occur every second Thursday of the month, so the next one will be August 11th.

Re: Track Time Calgary

Awesome. Ty Mirza.

I won't be able to make it out for the August 11 meet but I will try to get there for the track day. Depends on how much the kids feel like behaving that day :P

Re: Track Time Calgary

Meets are the second Thursdays of the month at Stix Sportsbar. So that would mean August 11th.

Re: Track Time Calgary

Spectators are free, deposits are $100

PM me or email questions

nothing77 07-31-2011 10:12 AM

Re: Track Time Calgary

So far we have collected $0 deposits, I am hoping we see some action this week.

Plenty of people promising to be there, but no firm commitments yet

rodman71 07-31-2011 10:58 AM

Re: Track Time Calgary

Can't make a commitment until I see if my wonderful S is running well. It's on the surgeon's operating table still. Then it has to go for another appointment at the shoe doctor to get a bit of a wobble out. I guess it was inevitable for things to start happening to my baby, but why all at once. XS

Re: Track Time Calgary

Looking for commitments guys, this may prove to be the most JDMish Audi track day ever

Grim 08-04-2011 08:56 PM

Re: Track Time Calgary

Out of curiosity what are the track day requirements? Helmets, suits etc. ? Any training or race license required?

nothing77 08-05-2011 09:28 AM

Re: Track Time Calgary

Requirements

1-car in good mechanical shape (ie would pass a mechanics inspection)
2-helmet
3-long pants, preferably long sleeve shirt
4-a valid license

No race license or training is required, the events run with no passing in the corner, limited to only pass on front straight, this ensures no contact in corners

Hi all - I am new to posting on this forum.

I would definitely be interested in becoming a member of the Calgary Chapter and participating in Track day. I see the meeting is set for this Thursday. Looking forward to meeting like-minded enthusiasts and swapping stories.

Cheers,
Marc

PS I'm assuming I can still sign up for track day.

Track sign up is still available

Hey Ryan, I'm in. Pls let me know how much the deposit is and how best to get it to you. I've got a couple more Audi guys here at work that I might be able to talk into coming as well.

Regards,

Dewey

Re: Track Time Calgary

Hey Ryan, I emailed you as well but maybe you'll get this first. What does the $200 include? (any driving lessions, etc) And where is it exactly? Any helmet will do (I have a cheap motorcycle helmet)?

nothing77 08-12-2011 04:57 PM

Re: Track Time Calgary

All questions answered via email.

You need to bring a helmet, any helmet should do

There is no instruction, it is open track time, straight away passing only to accommodate novice drivers

The cost of 200 includes as many laps as you can get in in 5hrs ish 5-10pm and a burger/pop/chips dinner

I have 3 confirmed and payed

1-Scott 2011 Sprint Blue S4
2-Marc 2010 Black TT-s
3-Ryan 2000 Imola S4

Track is fun, whether in a corolla or a lambo, but a 3.0L 6mt is no corolla

Re: Track Time Calgary

good to see you too Rod, I'll pass along the msg to Will. Had a great time last night. Just going through some of the lapping data today from the GTech monitor. Pretty cool stuff, very mediocre driving ;-).

got a chance to make some 1/4 mile runs after the rain/hail when the track was empty. made a 12.94 @ 102.4 mph on one pass. fun to watch the replays of the data on my pc.
