Paint Chips! :(

Any suggestions/tips on rock chips? Literally losing sleep at night! Was in Banff on a clear sunny day, perfectly dry roads; this gravel truck started dropping gravel absolutely out of no where. Guess who was behind him where the rocks started hitting my car at a painfully obscene rate! I wanted to cry!:cry:

I am thinking of contacting color works here in Calgary, after they fix it thinking of applying some 3M coating. Anyone able to further comment on the best approach and who to deal with in the city!?

There is maybe 10 - 12 chips some very deep, some fairly deep, and other little nicks.

Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for your time and input!

Do you remember what company the truck is/was working for? Is it a road building project? If so, I would try to contact both the trucking company AND the contractor and have them pay for the repairs! Or call ICBC and make a claim. If that's still not acceptable, touch up paint is always available at the stealership! Whichever route you take, I hope you come out of this experience with as little (pocket) pain as possible. ;)

I had my bumper, full hood, fenders, mirror backs, door pockets and rear deck done at the dealership (Royal Oak) and it looks like a good job. Price was competative. They claim to use Scotchgaurd. From what I can find on the web, 3M bought Scotchgaurd and almost everything else. My understanding is that if you want to do the full hood, there is only one of that product line that is wide and long enough to cut the sheet out of in one piece. I don't remember which one that was now. At any rate there are different thicknesses and also there are inferior products that yellow. Apparently 3M is the preferred product to apply to a white vehicle as it would show the yellowing worst. Mine is white, as your's is grey, it shouldn't be an issue and you could probably go with less expensive product if price is seriously important.
No experience with the paint touchups in Calgary.
I doubt you would gain much through insurance, it would just drive your rates up and you probably wouldn't be above your deductable.
You can take a look at mine if you like, just let me know and we can make arrangements.
Republic of BC insurance probably wouldn't be interested either, ;) .
