Re: Calgary Audi Meet May 10th

hey guys,

we've been going to Stix for awhile now, and it's about time this place has run it's course. Unfortunately, it's been deemed a little too late to change the location of the meet since it's already been posted. so the new plan of attack will be to attend this months meeting next week at the usual place at stix, and we will discuss possible venues to move the following months meet.

i do like the wings there, and it's why i suggested the place a ways back, but the rest of the place has become subpar as of late. we discussed this shortly at the end of the last meet, but never got too far into details about it.

we would like to take some recommendations on a new meeting location.

Things to consider:
- reasonable priced food (wing nights are always good! haha)
- parking lot (need ample space for us to park and shoot the )
- do we want a parking lot that provides more protection from elements like the wind, so we're more sheltered to talk?
- a few months ago, a new user popped up that was under 18, which is the first under 18 member since we started outside of biebs, so do we want to switch from a over 18 establishment to a more family friendly atmosphere?
- location, although the majority of us are from the south, it's not fair for the members that live in airdrie or north calgary, so we need something central

Suggestions:
-Mantis/nothing77 originally suggested original joes on 130th ave SE, but discovered the original joe's in quarry park even better, there's more coverage from the wind, large parking lot etc

Please post your suggestions so everyone can see them, and come out for the meet next week, and we can sit and discuss what we want to do.

cheers,

Lenny

Re: Calgary Audi Meet May 10th

black bull up on 64th is pretty good. large parking lot as Canadian Tire is right there.
a little trek for the guys down south, but makes for a nice cruise back down together afterwards?

http://www.wildforwings.com/Black_Bull_Pub-122

p.s. i should be there next week. 1st time out in a few years :)

Re: Calgary Audi Meet May 10th

Totally agree Lenny. The one in Quarry Park isn't bad. A little out of the way for the northies, but if you are in a car club that shouldn't be an issue!

ok so far:
- original joe's quarry park
- black bull

other things to keep in mind, i would prefer a nicely lit parking lot. some nights we end up staying in the parking lot until late.

I should be there this month, hopefully it doesn't snow again this month. What should I look for

Re: Calgary Audi Meet May 10th

A bunch of Audi's all parked together by the Mr. Sub

Re: Calgary Audi Meet May 10th

We could try this place...

http://www.austinsbar.com/

From the Google streetview it seems to have plenty of parking and their wings are supposed to be pretty good AND Thursday is their wing night ;)

Haven't been there myself but I looked the place up and has good reviews.

On the down side, no minors. Will look to see if I can find a place that will accept the Biebs ;)

Re: Calgary Audi Meet May 10th

- original joe's quarry park
- black bull
- austin's

i haven't been to austin's in years, the parking lot is big and usually pretty empty, but if they haven't renovated inside, it's pretty gross inside. but it has been a few years since i've been
there, and it's also really far for the north guys too.

for the newcomers, if the weather is nice out, we generally get there about 6:45, and we park by the mr sub. inside, we usually sit either at the right in the back by the 3 tv's or if that's taken, we take the left side on the elevated part. look for rodman, big guy with white glasses, or i'm sure someone will have some audi emblems on their clothing.

I should make it out this time - sorry about last month with the summer tires, snow storm, and the f*er @ coop putting in regular causing the CEL.

Going to try to make it out for the first time.

Next Thrusday is the start of a new contract for me so it might be a busy day at the office.

Sweet! I can probably make this one.

Is there anyone coming who has a vagcom? :) I've just completed the DIY aux port install but might need some vag to get it working. (Don't we all). If I totally misunderstand the time and work required to program using that, let me know so I don't sound like an idiot asking!

Looking forward to meeting some of you, rather than just creeping on your posts from afar.

I can bring my vagcom, but you'll have to do the research into what we need to do. I have the cable, I'm just not an expert at playing with it.

That would be awesome. Do you have the laptop/software to go with it? I've spent the night reading up on how to actually program the car with it, and I think conceptually I get it, but it would be good to play around with!

Yes I have the laptop and software for it.

Hudson's would be a little too far of a stretch.

It doesn't necessarily need to be a wing night. But ample parking is a must

that was a joke, my car barely made in into that parking lot when it was open!

another (albeit shittier) option is Local 002 by Glenmore Audi. not the greatest food, but home is right nextdoor for all of us :)

We were just talking about this last night. The place has mixed reviews but can't be worse than what we've had last few times at STIX.

Might be worthwhile to try it out.

Hey everyone, Im real new to Audi. Over paid for my car and kinda feel like a sucker but I do love it. Wish there was some meets in Edmonton and possibly someone who knows these cars as this is the first turbo I've had. I know Im super green, Older (32) and looking for some know how to make this DD a project (kinda afraid to do this by myself and do not know anyone with a audi) What I do not have a problem with is direction/help to make this a clean ride. If your wondering I like straight/clean lines and have absolutely never like flashy cars. so if you could help point me in the direction I would appreciate to a lot. thanks for reading.

One last thing I have been on a couple forums so I'n not new to the search bottom or how easy it is to have the flame suit ready so have at it!

Chris,
I am in Edmonton quite often, could help you out with scanning the care if you need it etc. I think there is quite a few people in Edmonton and they get together once in a while.

this has gotta be one of the more amusing discussion threads in a while... eye candy, nasty decor, wing night... it's been a while since I've been to a meet and I'm tentative for this thursday (might get roped into a work commitment...)
I'm game for a venue change and for what it's worth I like the sounds of austin's based on the reviews I just read...
