Playing DVD movies through nav screen
 

I have an 08 A4 with nav and I was wondering if anyone knows how or if you can play DVD movies through the nav screen. I tried putting a dvd in and it just says "unknown format". Any upgrades out there to get around it?

There is a way around it although it's not that easy. You need to pick up a video in converter (Dietz 1417) install that as well as have your RNS-E hacked to allow video while in motion (VIM Hack).

This will now give you a video input into your nav for anything with a line out (i pod, DVD player, xbox, ect.) now the fun part is trying to power of of these, i'm in the process right now of converting a DLO Homedock to fit in the glovebox, this would give me use of my ipod video with remote and on screen menus on the nave screen.

So possible yes, practical.... sadly no.

You will need the adaptations mentioned earlier to make it work. The stand alone NAV unit will not play DVD movies. It is DVD Rom only.
