2004 Audi TTs transmission Whine
Hello
New to audi and the forum.
My 2004 TT has a whine coming from the auto tranny. it is there most of the time but on occasion it is gone or so faint i can not here it. Reverse seems to be the loudest. ( I have been since told this is normal for the dual clutch transmission) I really don't know. i took it to Durham Audi to see why it hesitated shifting into first and reverse and they said it need a Transmission Module, so I told them to order and replace it. Work was finished and I excitedly picked up my TT. There was zero differance in the shifting and there was and is a loud whine coming from transmission. I told them this and they said they will look at it again and if the shiftronic module was good I would be charged for any time and work required. They told me the tt was older and imported so they don't know what is wrong with it. Long story short I am out $6000.00 and a new whine I need to fix Was told by a mechanic it is a input bearing in the tranny which kinda makes sence from the sound. And the sound is louder when decelerating. Still hesitates going into 1st but shifts smooth through all other gears. Any other ideas out there and anyone know of a reliable shop that can work on this tranny or has removed one of these transmissions that can spare some wisdom? Any suggestions where to get parts besides Audi dealers.
Thank you for allowing my rant and I hope someone can help me out.
Tony
I still drive it and the performance is there just sounds like a power steering pump on 74 chevy pickup
Note: seems to be quieter when outside temp is around 0 could be that the oil is cold and more dense so quieter bearing ???
Also when shifting from park to drive or reverse will make it whine more or sometimes not at all and there is no pattern to which gear makes it whine.
