S4 stock tires

I bought my 2006 S4 used and it came with Michelin Pilot HX MXM4 tires.
Are these the stock OEM tires that come with the car?
I find them to be absolutely crap (relatively speaking for a sporty car like the S4).

Heck, the Traction rating isn't even AA. It's only A (although the traction rating only applies to the tire's straight line wet coefficient of traction as it skids across asphalt or concrete, it's still pretty poor for an S4).

So my question is, is this the OEM tire the S4 comes with or did the previous owner simply replace the original worn tires with crap?

They might be OEM - my '03 3series came with those tires (17s). And I agree, they were the worst tires I've ever had, especially in wet snow. They're just cheapo all-seasons basically - you probly want to get new ones and donate those or something..... then again, if you want less speeding tickets....

definitely not OEM...all seasons for the loss. Get a set of summers for warm seasons and winters for cold. Lots of people try to cheap out and go with all seasons but seriously? In Ontario? The car was $70,000 when it was new! Just buy a commuter car if you want to run all seasons...don't buy a high performance 340hp small sports sedan with a V8 crammed under the hood.

The S4 came with a couple different OEM tires///both high performance summers.
Continental ContSport Contact 1 or 2
Michelin Pilot Sport 2

I always tell people to buy a used set of OEM wheels and if lucky, used OEM wheels with snow tires already on them. The cost will be between $400-800 all in...and you'll get a $100/year discount on your auto insurance if you tell them you're running winter tires so it's a no brainer.

p.s. OP...not ranting at you specifically...just the whole 'all season on an S4' concept. I know you'll do the right thing :)

Agreed.........buy summer for the summer and winter for the winter. My 2006 S4 did come with Contis as OEM.
