Default S4 Brake Master Cylinder Removal

Anyone have experience getting this out to replace it on a b5? There doesn't seem to be enough space to get the bolts and pull the cylinder without running into the metal separator.

Thanks,

Justin

Default Re: S4 Brake Master Cylinder Removal

hope that this will help you. this is what i follow on how to replace master cylinder.
1. disconnect and plug hydraulic lines.
2. remove the attaching ruts from the two masters cylinder.
3. remove the reservoir cover and diaphragm.
4. inspect the cover and diaphragm. replaced it if it was cut, cracked of deform.
5. remove fluid level switch, if equipped
6. depress the primary piston and remove the lock ring.
7. plug the primary fluid outlet.
8. spring retainer and seals remove it.
9. Clamp the master cylinder in a vise and remove the reservoir using a pry bar. Remove the reservoir grommets
10. Inspect the master cylinder bore for corrosion. Do not use abrasive material on master cylinder bore. Replace if the bore is corroded.

maybe this would help.
