I will apologize up front. This must be the hundredth time these questions have been asked about improving performance. You also should know that I have limited knowledge on cars and their technology, but I am eager to learn (I have never really needed or wanted to, until now).

When I first drove my Audi ('04 S4) I nearly blew my mind at how fast it was. Now that I am used to it, I want more - more, more, more. I am actually thinking of taking the car to the track to see what it can do...

- these are the upgrades I have found that can be done:
1. Cold air intake - by performance
2. exhaust - by milltek
3. performance chip - ?

Is there anything else? I read in another post that an S4 owner was looking at doing the RS4 upgrade. Is this possible for my car? If so, what will I need to do? Is the RS4 engine and the S4 engine the same just tuned differently? What other upgrades will be need when I start adding HP so I don't blow up anything important, especially me?

One caution regarding a cold air intake is to ensure retaining the airbox and cold air ductwork up to the lock carrier. Some cold air intake mfg's suggest to remove the stock airbox / ducting and run a cone filter exposed to the hot engine bay... worst case making it a hot air intake with a free Intake Air Temperature downgrade

Exhaust can get you a few HP and add a sportier exhaust note.
