they are all allowed in now with the RIV changes
as far as the RS6 i've looked at this as i drive a stage2+ b5 s4 right now and i'm looking at adding another b6/7 S4 in the spring but was checking the RS6s
you have to change the oil every 5000km no biggie i do that now
the timing belt needs to be done every 35k miles and costs 2-3grand to do!
drinks gas.. well so does my b5 so meh
the DRC suspension will go to crap and you'll need to replace with coilovers
other than that they seem pretty good.. people complain b5 s4s are crap but if you treat them right they treat you right so same rule applies IMO

I really hate sounding ignorant and I am almost embarrased to ask, but what does the "b" stand for when you speak about the b5, b6 ect...and how do I find out which I have?

I don't know what the "B" stands for, or if it stands for anything at all, however your 2004 is a B6.

Partially True:
The letters indicate chassis clasifications (So, simplified, yes, body style...)
B - A4
C - A6
D - A8
The A3s & TTs have been on the same platform since their births so they are not classified.
Same with Q7 & Q5
A7 will be based on the upcoming Passat CC
