Yes, absolutely ! Even the less costly 4cyl. motors, the savings is a few hundred bucks.

Can you guys post pics of your S4? Just wanted to see what the different colour combinations people have chosen.

Cheers.

Gratz on your order! I don't know how you can be so patient! I couldn't wait for an S5 Cab so I went with an RS 4 Cab with 13K clocked. You're in for a real treat!

RS4 is a sweet car but the new S4 is lighter, faster and more fuel efficient. I like the new look and the chasis is better than the previous Audi's i have driven. I have a owned a BMW 3 series for the past 8 years and this will be my first Audi.

I just hope I don't have any maintenance issues. I never had any reliability problems with my BMW. It was a great car.

With respect to being patience, I don't mind driving it in the spring time. I wouldn't want to pick up my S4 in Dec.

Couldnt help but laugh at your last comment ... I had a RS4 and can confirm that the B8 S4 feels more nimble although both make fabulous winter cars ! Personally, I'd want the new car ASAP ...

I know my last comment must of been amusing to you. I've driven my 3 series in the winter as well. I just don't have a choice in driving the S4 until spring because that's when it arrives. I will get the true test of how it drives in the winter of 2011.

Please be sure to post pics when your new car arrives! I forgot to mention, it's a cabriolet which is limited in model availability and the reason I went RS4 instead of S5 cab.

Brake squeal is pretty typical with high performance brakes unfortunately based on materials chosen by OEMs. My BMW did the same thing. It'll go away with a relatively hard brake maneuver on the drive cycle when it appears. You can go with a different aftermarket pad but they create a lot more brake dust and don't last as long from what I've read by people who switched.

Yes and no - it depends on the pads. I have some pads that will squeal in daily driving no matter what I do. They're just too aggressive and their heat range is too high for the street - they also won't stop very well until they're heated up. I should note that all pads should be broken-in - something almost no one does! StopTech has a good tutorial on this: Bedding-in pads. Just make sure that you don't come to a complete stop and don't hold the brakes on the rotors - they will be HOT! Give your wheels a quick touch after this, just to appreciate how much energy you're converting to heat when you brake.

Also, not all aftermarket pads create more dust. I have Wilwood brakes so I use their pads, but I have a couple of compounds that are great for the street, give much better braking than anything OEM, and create less dust than stock. The trade-off is they do squeal occasionally, but I stop caring once I slam on the brakes and lock up RE-01Rs in 30°C...my eyeballs almost come out of my head
