It's here! 5 more sleeps

I'm pretty new to the forum. Pfaff Newmarket just called to tell me our new S4 is finally here. How exciting. They still need to do PDI so the pick up date is Tuesday. How will I sleep? The car is black on black. I sold my '04 S4 in four days! And now I'm ready for the supercharged V6. We're putting S5 rims with Michelin Pilot Apin PA3s for winter. We'll post some pics next week.

Welcome to the forum!

I've got to say that it's refreshing to see a woman that is excited enough to count how many sleeps until the new car! It's going to be a rough weekend ;)

Come and show off your car at the Krown Lakeshore event and meet others. I know of one other Black B8 S4 thats going to be there.

Okay, sorry for the long delay - I'm finally getting around to posting my pics. My husband and I own a digtial marketing company and apart from the initial pics posted here, he intended to take some really sexy shots and perhaps put together a video of the new wheels. Well, blah, blah, blah - we've been busy so here are the quick and dirty ones.

So about the car - still haven't even passed the 200 km mark yet but wow, the difference from my 2004 S4 is stunning (mainly in the area of electronic advances). The first drive left me slightly concerned. It wasn't exactly snapping my head back to my seat when I nailed the gas pedal. Incredible to drive but maybe it didn't have the power of the V8. Then I started reading the manual and decided to head out at 9PM the next night in "Dynamic" mode. What a difference. Oh joy - the neck snapping growl was there! It will pin you to your seat in a split second if you ask it too. But now if you're on the highway crawling in traffic, say hello to your new friend "comfort mode".

I LOVE it! It's beautiful and every day I learn a little more about the thousand and one little settings and things you'd never imagine that those engineers in Germany have thoughtfully included. Hope you like the pics.

In one of the pics is Matt Arruda of Pfaff in Newmarket. Matt is the BEST salesperson you could ask for. He's incredibly responsive, friendly and knowledgeable, never pushy and a pleasure to negotiate with. He's worth going out of your way for. I'm recommending him to my network all the time.

Oh man, you're awesome - first drive in a brand new S4 and she already needs more power...

Beautiful car! Please take care of that gorgeous black paint - every black car that I see (except mine) is beat to crap! :(

FYI, the B8 is actually faster than the V8 S4s. If you need some more go: Fast. Faster.

He he! A girl's gotta have a little fun ya know.

About the pics - man, that's one BEAUTIFUL ride! I love the styling queues on the decklid, choice in wheels and the comments about Dynamic mode - all around fabulous! Enjoy your new ride! I'll be watching for more pics!

Congrats! That is a beautiful ride.

Speaking of power, when I test drove the S4 (still waiting for mine to arrive), my first thought was exactly the same as yours - this car isn't as powerful as I expected. But then I looked down at the speedometer. I was traveling much faster than I realized - even after switching to dynamic, it never felt as fast as I had expected it to be, but clearly the car was very quick - it just didn't feel that way. I blame the quiet exhaust :)

Enjoy the car.

Re: It's here! 5 more sleeps

The style seats in the Audi vehicles I've driven and ridden in so far might be one of the features that makes the car 'feel' like it isn't accelerating as quickly. They're cushiony compared to the harder sport style seats in say, a BMW M3. I just came from a BMW M car myself and the seats were one of the first things I noticed as being different when I first sat in the RS4. The RS4 seats feel a lot like the Acura MDX we have and those seats are quite soft.

Nevertheless, the S4 is absolutely astounding and I'm sure the OP is really going to enjoy her new ride. What a glorious vehicle!

Just to let you in on a secret..... we (GH Club) staged a drag race between a modified B7 S4 and a stock B8 S4 like yours and the B8 took the hopped up 4.2l V8 by two car lengths.

Your really do have a quick car. I just wish it didn't sound like a sewing machine so much and growled more like the V8 that I have.

What a small world!

I was at that Newmarket Pfaff dealer in September to test drive a 2010 Quattro A3 with the DSG trans (too bad the A3 Quattro doesn't have stick shift)

Matt Arruda was the salesperson that set me up for the test drive, and your right! he's the best that I've met. He knows all the detailed tech stuff, great guy to talk too.

The A3 wasn't as impressive. The A4 is what I liked better (stick shift and torsen Quattro system)

Enjoy your S4! Nice choice!

and just to let you in on a secret...that's inaccurate! it was about 1 car length

and that 'hopped up' B7 wasn't so hopped up...it had only a tune +_catback + oem downpipes (and if we raced today it would be a very different outcome:cool:)

I am looking forward to taking on your "hopped up" car!

The car is definitely quicker than the seat of the pants would tell you.

There is no replacement for the sound of that V8 (particularly with exhaust). I got to hear a B8 with APR exhaust the other day, and it sounded very nice at WOT, but it's nowhere near as nice as that V8 growl.

my modlist is pretty simple...not sure if you're asking about recently, but here it is in totality

Feb 2010
JHM tune
JHM LW crank pulley
JHM intake spacers
Fast Intentions 2.5" x-pipe crossover
JHM/VAST piggies (OEM downpipes with pre-cats removed, main cats in tact)

Oct 2010
JHM LW front rotors

December 2010
JHM/VAST 2.5" downpipes to replace the piggies (which are now in my basement)
Updated JHM tune

Just basic stuff, but all contributing to performance. I think the total bill when you net out selling off the stock parts (i.e. oem dps) is about $3500. All can be DIY'd pretty easily.

Next up will be LW wheels. One of my summers has a bad bend, so I'll need a new set. The JHM LW rotors dropped 20lbs of rotating mass off the car...and the effect was pretty amazing. Stock wheels at 28lbs + 22lb tires mean I'm at 50lbs per corner. Getting some 18-20lb wheels with 22lb tires would mean a drop of 30-35 lbs of rotating mass and that would be VERY fun.

You B8 guys...the biggest weakness your car has from the factory is weight. It comes with heavy wheels (30lbs+ for the 19s) and tires (Dunlops are mid 20s). That's about 55-58lbs per corner. If you guys can find some 22-24 lb 19" wheels to keep the car looking good...and pair them up with Michelin PilotSport2 tires at about 23lbs in 19" 255s...it'll be a drop of 40-50lbs of rotating mass...which will feel like getting another tune bump!

Voltron'sHead was having trouble breaking into the 12s with his car on a 58lbs per corner setup (APR tuned + exhaust + intake). When he changed to a set of 20lb BBS wheels + 22lb Michelins, he ran 12.7. That's no joke.

Very nice. I have seen you on this and other forums, and didn't realize you had done as much as you have.

Hopefully, I'll get to check out your car at a meet this year. I have feeling your car sounds quite nice. I will be looking for some light wheels for my car come spring - partly for performance, and partly for look.

I'm sure we'll see each other soon enough. Maybe at a meet. The B7 certainly sounds good these days. Maybe a little too good...not sure my neighbours are as happy with the volume levels as they used to be :D

check this out for wheels. Probably the best deal I've seen in a while...those tires are like new, and the wheels are too. Guy just decided one day (after 6 months) he wanted a Porsche GT3 :D

HRE M40 19 x 9 ET43 with Michelin PS2 - The Audizine Classifieds

In any event, you could buy these wheels, drive on them for 2 years and wear out the tires (which are worth $1200) and then sell the wheels for probably $2500+. If you negotiate, you could probably get the wheels/tires set from this guy for close to that. I'd consider them if they were 57mm and 18x8.5 and ET30...but as it stands, they're terrible for my car (and perfect for a B8 S4)

The wheels should weigh about 23-24lbs each. Fantastic quality too. Some of the best out there.
