Default B5 S4 Turbo upgrades

Hello all, i need all of your opinions on something that has been on my mind as of late..........
Eventually i will have to replace the turbo's on my 2000 audi s4 (B5). currently the car is running fantastic, but i still cant help but wonder about the power i could/should have. anyways...i was wondering what turbo's are compatable with the B5 s4??? a friend was looking on buying some Garrett GT3071R Turbos for his gtr and suggested i look into them..are these turbos compatable with my car?? if so what flange size/type is needed?? your help is much appreciated... i know to get full power out of those turbos you would need lots of engine work... but i'm just looking for the best possible upgrade for this one of a kind beast.. the car isnt stock at all, it is at stage 2 with a rs4 clutch/aluminum flywheel..ect....i guesss i should say NEED instead of want. I NEED HUGE TURBO POWER!! lol

The least expensive and highly reliable Turbo upgrade is the K04's that will easily get you into the high 300's and with a bit more into the 400's... after that the limit is your wallet.

Are you doing the work yourself? Are you looking for homebrew or a pro kit?

Yes, k04's are prolly the best route to go and were the ones i had in mind when i origionally bought the car. But i figure if im gonna go buy new turbo's i might as well get the most "bang" for my dollar, im just curious about my possiblities. would those garrets be bolt on? as for the work, i would love to do it myself but dont have the right tools. so a friend of mine will help me out a bit but all main work will be done by a prefered shop. thinkin homebrew..but some kits are so appealing.

The guys at vast put together a nice K04 Kit for me, i did all but fueling and chip.
You can also look into Hybrid K04's with the RS6 internals in the RS4 turbo. Theyre good to 600hp i think? dont quote me on that but if you go anything bigger, it's gonna be alot of custom work. IT"S TIGHT under the hood, i could bearly get a piece of paper between the motor and the chassis when i did it. put it on a hoist and lifted the car, and the motor stayed on the floor. it was great. there's pictures somewhere on here actually.
I dont have a chip, but the extra kick from the k04's it totally knoticeable. i had a stock s4 pull up to me one day in sauga same color as mine and everything, at a light.....i had to stretch a gear each gear got me almost 3/4 car length on him.

check out vastperformance, they have the rs4/6 turbo's.
ask for prince tell him Alex from toronto sent you.
Theyre in michigan, if you want to go for a drive they have some nice project's goin on

Yes you can run K04's with a stock chip (boost profile is a little different)...but why would you?

No, Garrets aren't bolt on. Check out Autospeed Performance - AutoSpeed Performance for the GT28R kits ($$$$$$). Main issues are the exhaust flange is different (new exhaust manif.) and the oil feed and coolant feed lines hook up differently (adapters). They also require a re-mapped ecu to work properly with them...but the power...the POWER!...

ATP turbo (ATP TURBO - The Premiere Provider of Turbocharging Components) was supposed to introduce an eliminator kit for the B5 s4 using garret gt25's with *** exhaust flanges making them a relatively simple bolt-on, but I don't think that venture ever came to fruition.

Your cheapest option now is probably to sell your current car and just buy a complete stage 3 car from a US seller. Now that B5 S4's can be imported up here that is by far the cheapest option and if the prior owner has taken care of the car all of the kinks would be worked out. There are lots for sale in the US at crazy low prices.
