Hey everyone,

So I'm getting my exhaust done on the 28th of March and wanted to upgrade my intake as well... only problem is, I can't find ANYONE who sells an intake kit for my b5 s4. K&N have a filter and pipe, but it's not what I'm looking for as it installs lower and takes away from the rammed air made available for one of the turbos.

LLTek used to make the perfect kit, but I can't seem to find anyone who makes one similar. On top of that, no one provides me with a heat shield so I need to see a machinist to make me a custom one.

Any advice/recommendations as to who might sell an appropriate kit?

The biggest caution when upgrading the Intake is to not allow any hot engine bay air into the intake system as this will reduce performance. You want cold air entering the intake from the front end of the vehicle like the stock intake plumbing does. Not sure what the reference to the ram air for one of the Turbo's means?

Some people go with an RS4 380HP airbox (vacuum actuated flap to let in more air when in boost) or the Darintake Mod to the stock airbox including for full Stage3 2.7Ts.

Sorry I can't recommend any kits. I simply did a very clean version of Darintake Mod on my stock airbox. I do recall one kit that had a pipe and cone filter wrapped in a custom carbon fiber air shield with rubber trim that mated with hood when closed to ensure only cold air came in from the lock carrier opening... but it was expensive!

Here is what I am referring to. Quite simple, really... And it doesn't involved the Darintake mod. I was hoping someone else made a similar kit... but I haven't found one yet.

As for the ram air, I was referring to the air-flow that is made available to both my turbos. I was under the impression it was called 'rammed air' as a technician referred to it as such. I might be mistaken.

I installed the AWE S-Flow kit - basically a pipe and an ITG filter. I definitely noticed some improved performance, although they told me that it would not keep integrity with a K0-4 Turbo. I got it on sale for about $150 at Christmas time. This is it here: AWE Tuning - Products

Thanks, bud. This is essentially what I was looking for... I'm gonna check it out for sure !!! I find it may be better than the custom kit i showed you from LLTek.

Look for the X-1 intake, it is very similar to what you are looking for. Call Vast. Just to be clear, our turbos do not have any ram air, the air is all through the intake past the MAF, so no matter how low or large a filter is, it will not impede the air to a turbo

The kit in your link is exactly what you do not want to use as it is open to the engine bay. For example use VAG-COM to log your IAT's on a hot summer day, then install that kit and log again. Your IAT's will go up, hotter intake air is now less dense, ECU will pull back on fuel and you lose some of the very potential that you are trying to gain. Especially in hot weather, if you do measure any power gain then it will be minimal compared to drawing in cooler air from front of vehicle, as well it would suggest that your boost level is way up and that the stock intake that has head room for Stage1 is no longer keep up.
