2013 Audi S5 can use 95 octane gas???

Hi guys,

I have a new 2013 Audi S5, bone stock with dual clutch auto tranny. (Keep in mind the 2013 models have the 3.0L V6 supercharged engine).

When I fill up gas, I notice on the gas filler panel that is says 91 octane minimum and there's a notice for 95 octane as well...

Does this car benefit from using higher octane? We have 94 octane here in Montreal, and I was wondering if it would be beneficial...

Yes it will benefit from higher Octane. I used to put 94 in my S4 which is the same engine as the new S5. If you can do 94 great if not 91 (Shell V for example) is just fine too.

^ agree

I only drive an A5 and use 94. It is a few coins more but I can feel a bit more zoom over 91. Nothing empirical to support this. Some might say this is a waste, but it works for me.

In Canada, the higher octane gas usually is ethanol mix except for Chevron 93. I rather use Exxon or even Shell. Firmly believed that ethanol is bad for conventional engines.

Here in BC, Chevron 94 Octane, is the only one in their family without Ethanol. Have to check with the supplier to see what the Montreal mix is.

FWIW - I used Husky 91 octane with Ethanol exclusively when I had my 1998 B5 Audi (160000+ kms when it got rearended and written off). Would have kept it longer if not for that. Never had any issues with the engine components and got good mpg and performance IMO.
