Re: 2008 Audi RS4 for sale.
any thoughts on price reductions on these cars up here? They're currently being sold brand new for 64-66k USD
even with 6.1% duty, and 18% exchange, it's $82,000 CDN...a far sight from the CDN pricing. thanks |
Re: 2008 Audi RS4 for sale.
Canada and US are two different markets and there is nothing that one can do about it.Every market has its own pricing based on local facts,if you look at german pricing you may always say that car are cheap in Canada:)
As for the RS4 its about six months since there are no more new ones available, anywhere in Canada so talking about new pricing doesent make any sense. |
Re: 2008 Audi RS4 for sale.
that's not entirely true. that car can be imported from the US for a total of $3,000 in fees/taxes. Takes about 2 weeks. That means these aren't really 2 markets anymore...they're more like 1.
Further, Audi has dropped pricing on virtually every model to reflect the gap in US vs. Canada pricing. A used RS4 for $90,000 doesn't seem to embrace that. Just saying. |
Re: 2008 Audi RS4 for sale.
I was also just saying:)
This is the market here, and that's the market over there and anyone can go and shop freely everywhere, probably one from Germany can buy here or in States,it wont take more than 3-4 weeks to have the car over there. However,I still dont understand your point, are you interested to buy this car or you want to buy one from the states? You have a nice S4 by the way. |
Re: 2008 Audi RS4 for sale.

Re: 2008 Audi RS4 for sale.
car is now listed at $79,900, down from the $90,000 originally asked for
2008 cars equipped similarly in the US are selling for around 54,000 USD. Converted to CDN/imported, that car will cost $75,000 CDN after all fees/duties/taxes. I reckon that you'll sell this car in the mid-low 70s. Brand new RS4 stock is being blown out at 58,000-60,000 usd down south...imported, that works out to $78,000 CDN + pst/gst. seems there are not 2 different markets after all...

Re: 2008 Audi RS4 for sale.
Right now,at the current exchange rate, the car is priced at 65500 USD.
It is true that you might find slightly lower prices down south but,you have to spend some time going there and all the rest.I will assume that one that can afford such a car is making at least 50-60 bucks/hour so that time must be worth something. Not to mention that after all we are canadians and we should support canadian business. As a December incentive, the car has included the Audi Care (free maintenance package) in the price. |

Re: 2008 Audi RS4 for sale.
Beautiful car ! I think Sakimano made a valid point ... US and Canada are different markets BUT when you can go on cars.com and find 49 2008 RS4's, I believe pricing anywhere becomes negotiable ...

Re: 2008 Audi RS4 for sale.
I agree that the US and CDN difference is huge, however, all you need is one anxious buyer who will pay more to make a sale. Given the low amount of ready to go CDN warranty RS4's a seller can mark it up. I actually went to a Broker who brings cars across the line and when we started to work the numbers the savings widdled down real fast and then their was the issues of warranty and vehicle history.

Re: 2008 Audi RS4 for sale.
Audi/VW US warranty does transfer over from the US.
Madman, what did this vehicle importer want to charge to bring the car in for you? |

Madman, what did this vehicle importer want to charge to bring the car in for you? He was going to charge $1,000 - I know him and he goes down often for other cars (that said his business has really slowed with the depreciation of our dollar). After that there was exchange, and a 6% duty and taxes ... if i recall correctly. In the end I was going to likely save about $3,000 and end up with a cars that had more mileage and a lesser known history. |

Re: 2008 Audi RS4 for sale.
With regards to CPO, yes that won't transfer over, but all you have to do is go down to the US to have that part honored. Also, if you have a US CPO warranty you get an additional 2 yrs or 160,000 km's instead of Canada's 2 yrs 120,000 km's, so you get more coverage from the US just the small nuisance to take the car back to the US depending on how far you are from the closest US dealer. May not be an issue for someone who doesn't drive much, but I know I drive between 30k and 50k a year so the added 40k's of coverage is worth something too.

In theory it sounds easy but in real life, you might have to go once for inspection, the second time then to go when the part is there if they dont have it in stock, also the shop might be busy and the car might be required to stay there several days and I doubt that an american dealer will give you a service loaner to go across the border. I dont think this would work in real life unless someone really hates Canada and it will pay extra just to take his business elsewhere. My 2 cents.:) |
Re: 2008 Audi RS4 for sale.
After seeing what some friends went through with their US into Canada vehicle and the supposedly good in Canada Warranty ... the savings would need to be significant to make it justifiable. And we live 25 mins from the border. Otherwise, with a savings of less than $5,000 on a car like the RS4 I'd much rather have comfort and certainty. Plus, the pain in the arse factor of getting warranty work across the line starts to add up if you the value of your own time into account.
Now if I was saving $10,000 plus, then border here I come ... |
Re: 2008 Audi RS4 for sale.
I was looking at some RS4's now sellink at 39K for me that is a very big saving although it does have 10k miles on it which is still nothing considering it is half price. This is a very arguable topic and in my opinion it goes both ways. No side will ever win.

Re: 2008 Audi RS4 for sale.
I agree with 1move. I personally am pro US for getting cars, had my '04 CPO'd M3 from the US and drove 6 hrs to the nearest BMW dealer the 2 times I had issues/maintenance over the year instead of trying to deal with the local dealership in Wpg. They were a@@holes to me way before i even imported my M3 so that had nothing to do with it.
