2007 RS4 Carbon cleaning

I recently picked up a 2007 RS4 late last year, after a couple of months I had difficulty starting the car and got intermittent misfires.

I changed the plugs, check coil packs, replaced battery and alternator (as per diagnosed independent shop); and still have problems.

So I finally decided to give carbon cleaning more thought and eventually proceeded with the manual carbon cleaning. It took roughly 2 full days to rid the carbon build up on intake manifold and valves. The car had 130,000 km at time of cleaning. The previous owner told me that the car had the manual carbon cleaning at 70,000 km.

anyways here are the pictures of the carbon cleaning process...

I'm not sure if my problem is due to carbon build up but, I had to replace my intake manifold. The valves on the right bank were un responsive to the computer. I know this problem keeps coming up on FSI engines... I, like most, am the second owner of my car and wonder if the previous owner used cheap gas. I always try to feed it 93/94 octane gas, even with the prices these days.

I have a 2007 RS4 with 104000 KM when it happened.

I'm curious to know how much a 2 days carbon cleanup costs in a shop as opposed to changing the intake manifold.

It will cost you $800 to have the same service as in the pictures above at Bososmode...

The cleaning made a huge difference in performance and was also getting random misfires before cleaning.
