B5/B6 clutch (no flywheel)
I own a BMW and when I need to figure out part numbers for those really strange parts that only BMW specialty places carry I use a website called world wide web dot RealOEM dot com. Its an Online BMW Parts Catalog. Its a great site because it gives me the same screen as the parts guy at the stealership. Is there a similar site that I can use to find part numbers for my 2002 A4 Audi?
I have a Blaupunkt unit sitting around that I'd like to install in the B5. The rear speakers are not working either so, I'll need those fixed as well while hooking up the two 12s in the back.
Anyone recommend someone in the Mississauga west-end ish? Someone on here willing to give me a hand with it?
PM me

Just joined the forum and just re-joined the ranks of Audi ownership.....took a long break from Audi ownership and just got pulled back in by a very cheap well looked after A4.
Always loved the look of the A4 and was easily tempted with the one that is sitting outside my shop right now. The car itself is fairly well looked after however after the owner replaced a leaky rad and put in a new thermostat, the possible real culprit has reared it's ugly head......head gasket is gone. Vehicle runs great but after a minute or two of warm up the cooling system builds pressure and vomits coolant out the overflow (not an overflow cap).....a small amount of steam from the tailpipe also present. I am going to pressure test the cooling system and do a leakdown tomorrow just to pinpoint the problem hoping that I can narrow the repair cost down but feel I will being going the full monty! My long winded question is has anyone done a top end rebuild on a 2.8 V6....minor or major? And if so anything I should be looking out for???? any tips or tricks???? Anything I can do to give it some extra zing while I have the heads off (within reason as I am not looking to spend a bunch in an attempt to give the wife a car she will never appreciate from an engineering standpoint). I may only keep this thing for a year at best and don't want to sink a fortune into it but do want to have a little fun.
Thanks for any advice and help you can give......The Volvo will soon be dead....Long Live the Audi!

Working on a 96 A4Q....looking for somewhere in Canada that rents the timing tools for changing the timing belt and respective components on the 2.8 V6 12v AFC engine? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am not going to use paint marks as it is a recipe for disaster.
Hello,
I have a 1999 Audi with 120,000 miles on it. Just recently the heat stopped working and wont respond. The heat is stuck on 76 degrees and the fan runs at about 70%. My controls on the dash board won't adjust the above mentioned. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Hey guys. I just picked-up a used 2000 Audi A4 last december. This is my first Audi and I am loving it. This is a run down of what I bought:
2000 Audi A4 2.8L V6 5V with tiptronic transmission. 250,000km awd, pw/d/l/w/m, Bose sound system, leather heated seats, and well all the bells and whistles. Leaks a little oil and the computer display in the instrument cluster and on climate control have some blank lines and is not a perfect display.
Anyway, when I bought it the dealer said the engine light kept coming on. Told me to bring it back when it did... it came back on, brought it back, fixed. Two weeks later it came back on... took it to my uncle, ran diagnostic, thermostat needs to be replaced. No biggie, however my uncle suggested that since it's leaking oil and that we have to pull the timing cover and some other work to replace thermostat, that it would be best to replace the oil lines, water pump, and a few other parts. So I am saving up to do that. (This is just background info so you guys have everything).
Now on to the strange part. I went to drive home, put the car in drive and noticed that I really had to push down on the gas to move. I checked to make sure I had the e-brake off, and it was in drive... it was. Checked the display in my instrument cluster... it's not showing me the selection. Moved it from auto to manual - screen doesn't change, and no change in drive. I stopped the car put it in park, back to drive - nothing! I turned of the car, restarted, put it in drive, screen registers change shows gear selected, and moves forward as normal. It's done this twice now.
Then the other day I took a 250km drive and when I got over 200km the car shuddered quickly and the display in the instrument cluster was dim and faded in spots. It did this on the way back, again just over 200km mark. When I turned the car off and back on, the screen came back to life (with the blemishes perviously mentioned).
This has me confused and worried. What is the problem, why is it doing the Windows reboot thing (err this is a common thing with Windows, got a problem, reboot and everthing will be back to normal), is this a major problem, how can I fix it, will it cost a lot? Would and new motor and transmission, or either, be a better idea?
Please help guys.
Thanks,
Doug.
