steering wheel vibration under hard acceleration audi a6 quattro

Hi there,
I have been to an audi specialist to diagnose vibration in the cabin
and through the steering wheel under sudden hard acceleration. They
could not reproduce it.
The vibration is happening more and more frequently.
- I have had all the wheels balanced. .
- I have replaced a slightly damaged tyre.
- The rear brake calipers bind now and again
Still get this whether accerlerating in a straight line or cornering.
Anybody got any ideas re: next steps?
Many thanks
John

Well, I'd *start* by getting out the dial caliper and checking the front brake
rotors for run-out - or just replace them outright unless they're quite new...

I have a similar vibration problem with my A6 4.2. Local dealer has
diagnosed fragmented catalyst monoliths, and I seem to remember he
wants about £1,600 to replace them.
