Service indicator
I've just had my car serviced (Audi A4 2.8 Quattro - 2000 Model) which is on
a variable service setting. The service intervals are up 19,000/2 years yet the car is indicating the next service is due in 9300 miles. I would have thought this should be 19,000 as the car has just been serviced. Is this normal or do I have to speak to the dealer about it ? Thanks in advance Richard |
Re: Service indicator
Hi Richard,
my guess....the interval 9300 miles equals roughly 15000 kilometers which is standard service interval here in Germany for Audi..... Jeroen |

IIRC (from my A6 2.7T - my RS6 is not eligible for VSI), that is the starting point for determining the next service interval. It should adapt as you use the car. If it says 5300 miles in 4000 miles time, then you should start to worry. It may be that the garage has set it for fixed service interval, but they should be familiar enough with this stuff now to have got it right! Does your invoice for the service make any reference to to 'fixed' or 'variable'? -- Peter Bell (Note Spamtrap - To reply, replace 'invalid' with 'bellfamily') |

Don't worry unless it remains like that for the next 1000 miles. Regards Wolfgang -- * Audi A6 Avant TDI * * reply to wolfgang dot pawlinetz at chello dot at * |
Re: Service indicator
In the service book they marked it as variable.

Depending on your driving patterns this reading will change. If you do only highway driving with little to no stop-and-go traffic and no short trips, you may get up to that 19k, but otherwise no way. UPDATE : Service indicator
I have now drove about 400-500 miles since the service. The indicator is now
saying 13900 miles so has appeared to have learnt. My question now is will this now start dropping as I drive the car or is it likely to rise/fall as it continues to learn. Just interested. Many thanks Richard "Richard Goulding" <nospam@nospam.net> wrote in message news:NeKcnT6a5Z6ooqjdSa8jmw@karoo.co.uk... > I've just had my car serviced (Audi A4 2.8 Quattro - 2000 Model) which is on > a variable service setting.
