need advice negotiating price of new 2004 S4
 

Hi, I live in CT and have been shopping around for a new S4 to change over
from my E36 M3 that I will sell privately in May (don't tell my BMW
buddies!). I have found at least 2 that I'm interested in but I get the
vibe that the dealers are sticking to retail pricing pretty much (well $500
bucks off). That's about $5,000 of profit according to various car pricing
websites that publish invoice at $46,200 & MSRP at 52,200). I think that
way too much and frankly puts that car just outside of my reach. I know the
S class cars are somewhat limited in production but there are at least 3-5
at most dealers that I've spoken with so they are certainly available. I'm
even willing to shop down south in Atlanta or Florida since work sends me
there often enough. Can anyone offer any advice on negotiating the cost of
the S4's or insight on the Audi sales model (other ways they make money off
the sale)? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

A friend of mine has been having good luck travelling up to the
boondocks in NH and VT where dealers are a bit more eager to move
inventory. He's in Fairfield county in CT and says it isn't that much
of a pain in the ass since he can normally save an extra $2-3,000.

Try VW/Audi of Oneonta New York. Ask for Steve Adams. Steve sells lots
of cars even though there are a number of other Audi dealers in this
area. I find that he offers very fair prices and is more willing to
get to your magic number.
