How difficult/expensive is it to have a cruise control put into my 2000 A4?

Dear all, my A4 has everything, except cruise control, and am wondering if
it is a difficult/expensive job? Do I have to go back to Audi or are there
some 3rd party specialists who can do that, I heard that the cruise control
adds a control to the right hand stick (the window wiper control stick), so
I suppose it's likely I'd have to go back to Audi for the job? I'm in the
Nottingham area.

Any help appreciated.

Regards, Jules

How old is your A4. I believe that all 'drive-by-wire' audis can have
cruise added very simply. All it takes is for the indicator stalk to
be replaced by one which includes the cruise switches, and a simple
setting made with a VAG-COM device, or similar.

I don't know of anyone in the Nottingham area, but I think Fontain
Motors in Iver, near Slough, were offering this service.

Mine is a 2000 (facelift) 1.8T Quattro Sport, is it drive by wire?

Thanks, Julius

I believe that MY2000 onwards should be DBW. Any one know how to check
for sure?

I imagine you *wouldn't* see any throttle linkage in motion if your assistant
stomped the go-pedal with the ignition turned off ;-)
