Help! No Directionals/Wipers/Climate When Hot - '96 A4 and '89 5000
Hello. I would be eternally grateful if anyone can point me in the
direction of fixing a problem that I am having with both of my Audis. The cars: '96 A4 Quattro; '89 5000. The problem that I am having, and it's very ironic that it's happening to both of them right now at the same time, is that my directional lights, wipers, main headlights, and climate control do not work upon starting. It seems that this problem occurs frequently when the weather is 90 degrees or above. When this problem happens on my 5000 I can usually get everything working again if I shut off the car, open all the doors, and let it sit and cool down some. When I restart it runs fine with everything working. How can I fix this problem permanently? I'm suspecting that the same problem (electrical?) is happening with both of the cars. I sincerely appreciate any help that I receive. You are very kind to donate your time and knowledge. Thank you! Warmest Regards, -Adam Mikiewicz(@)attbi.com - please remove the () to email me. |

Sounds to me like the ignition switch problem which I had on my '95 A6. If
so you might be able to get all of the electrical equipment working by turning the key slightly counterclockwise after the car starts.
