Oil vapour gets to it through the various hoses and eventually it gets
sticky - the symptoms are an uneven idle.

Where do I find it and how do I get to it. It seems I should check
mine before it fails completely.

Re: Audi 100 no start
If you remove your air filter you can reach up into the fuel distributor and you
will feel the plate. It should lift quite easily and return when you drop it.
If it doesn't move easily it could be binding ad affect mixture, idle and
possible no-start condition.
Don't force it.
If you are having a similar problem this could be something to look at but other
things can also be involved.

Thanks will try it.

I haven't got a no-start problem, but idle is sometimes iregular (not
always) and I recently checked the current into the idle stabilisor
valve. In addition, it seems to be slightly down on power, but I am
not too sure. Will see how the fuel consumption is when I fill it up
next time.
