A6 and sport suspension
 

hi,
i'm about to get me an A6 avant
but while test driving this car i found the suspension being soft, softer
then my VW passat break now
so i started to look at the sports suspension option to get a better contact
problem is that i only got the price for it so i do not know what the impact
of this suspension will be
so, if anyone has an A6 with sports suspension can you tell me how it feels
(i know this is very subjective)
but i have a child that gets car sick easily so i think a harder suspension
will be better for him (right?)
to give an impression of the suspension, how does it for example feel when
you ride on concrete roads wich have gaps between the pieces of concrete
road

I don't know about the A6 Avant, but I just got a new A4 3.0Q (manual shift)
with the sport suspension package. I took a 3-hr trip in it yesterday and
realized that it is indeed a pretty hard suspension. I felt just about
*every* bump in the pavement. I know that's what a sport suspension is
supposed to do (grip the pavement, road feel, etc.), but for my taste
I think it's a little too harsh for normal, daily city driving or long trips
(and I am a relatively "spirited" driver). Maybe it will soften over time.
I haven't played around much yet with tire pressures to see how much I
can vary the "harshness" (I took my trip with 38psi cold all around).
I suppose it could also be the 17" wheels (235/45-17 tires). I just don't know.

When I test drove both suspensions, they felt similar to me, but I noticed
the "sport" aspects more when I took quick turns - less body roll with
the sport suspension. If I had to choose again, I would probably opt for
the 17" wheels, but without the sport suspension. I think the regular
suspension is probably a better mix of capabilities for most drivers.
I don't know how comfortable I'd feel riding in a car with the sport
suspension if I got car sick easily. I think I would rather ride in a
slightly softer suspension if that were the case. Just my opinion.

but since i defenately want to get rid of the wobbling of the car i decided
to go for the sports suspension
time will tell....
