Steering Alignment

I have also posted this in the general section of the forum as it might be a common issue.

I have recently noticed that my steering wheel has an approximately 5 degree tilt towards the left. What I mean is that when I am driving in a straight line the steering is not straight it’s slightly tilted. If I straighten the steering the car will gently steer right after about 10-15 feet of driving.

- I am using OEM Rims/Tires
- I have not hit any bumps or pot holes
- Car has under 5K (likely not an alignment issue)
- All the balancing weights are on the wheels nothing is missing
- I don’t have any wheel pull at all
- There is no steering vibration at any speed
- All tires airs are 100% as per spec (using nitrogen)
- This experience is visible at above 30 kph
- This experience is visible with or without lane departure turned active
- I am not using any spacers

This is on my A7, I had a similar experience with my S4, took the car into Audi 3 times they and they did the laser wheel alignment with no luck. I don’t recall having this issue back in the winter time when I had my winter rims.

Does anyone have any thoughts or recommendations?

Thanks & Cheers.

Going into Audi Aug 2nd to have it checked out. I'll report back.

Re: Steering Alignment

Here is what happened. I had a nail in my rear right tire, they fixed it, re-inflated all 4 tires with nitrogen, did a rotation and confirmed all wheels are balanced. The steering wheel is slightly better but not 100%. I was basically told that the roads in North America are no good and that this car is designed for Europe (whatever that means exactly). I'll just have to learn to live with this I guess.

Re: Steering Alignment

To all fellow A7 drivers on the forum. Any of you experiencing this steering wheel alignment issue as I am?

This is driving me insane. This is all I pay attention to while I am driving. I am not enjoying the drive at all. I've thought about this and there is no way this can be classified as "normal" it wasn't there for the first 3 months so how can it be normal.

Anyone how can comment please do so.

Thank you.

Re: Steering Alignment

Hello,

My guess is that the road you're driving on is graded to the right, meaning it slopes right. The reason for this is so the water runs off the roads towards the drains. If they didn't slope the water would remain on the roads and cause huge puddles all over the place, which would lead to hydroplaning. I hope this clears up what you're wanting to know.

Re: Steering Alignment

This logic totally makes sense but it's very hard to believe that every single road in the Toronto and GTA is built this way, I am talking major roads, minor roads, small roads, hwys etc... Also, I've never experienced this with other Audi's I've owned or heard of anyone else with and Audi experience this.

Don't get me wrong your statement makes perfect sense but I am not sure if my car is behaving this way because of it. It wasn't like this when I first picked it up. It's really annoying to be honest.
