Default Leaving for a month: should I disconnect the battery?

Hello there!

I'm leaving for a month in a few days. The car will be in my garage. Nobody can come to start it.

Was wondering if I can leave the battery connected without any problem?
Was also thinking about installing a battery charger that keeps the battery from discharging under a certain voltage but I'm afraid I will not have enough time before I leave (pretty busy!).

My car is a 2012 A4 Prestige (US) S-Line with 30000km.

Thank you very much!
Bruno

Shouldn't be a problem to leave it for a month. That's not all that long really. That's not to say taking it out and putting a battery tender on it is a bad idea. It's probably the ideal way to handle it but a month of no use in the summer isn't going to effect a new battery very much. I don't really understand the rust comment. It shouldn't rust any more than if you were driving it. Probably less if I had to guess.

i think it was sarcasm because a month without starting a new car is not bad. Anyway when i leave my car for more then a month hookup a small solar power battery charger to it (25$) and put it where the sunlight hits and its been fine.
There was a time once i left my car for 6 months and started it once a month and when i came to drive it the right side auto levelling headlight did not self level. I booked an appointment with audi and they wanted to charge me for a brand new battery! It started working after the battery charged though so i guess its always best to keep your battery up to level.

I would highly recommended you not to disconnect the battery. Just put a battery maintainer of some sort on it.

A month shouldn't be a problem for a battery in good condition in warm weather. A battery tender is always a good idea though and good ones aren't very expensive.

Hi,

similar to the previous forum posting but I wish to disconnect my battery for 6 months (A6 2006 model). I have also been told that there is a "transponder" in the key that may have to be disconnected. Any Information would be helpful. I don't want to find that all systems have been disabled after the period.

What I would do is get some fuel treatment and a battery trickle charger for seasonal vehicles. and leave it all intact.

If its for 6 weeks or less you are fine just leave the car parked as is.
