2013 Q5 brakes squeaking loudly

My Q5 is a wonderful vehicle to drive except for the annoying and embarassing squeaking brakes. Audio has no solution but to put you on a contact list in case one is developed. I would think that Audi would jump on this and get their engineers cracking on find a solution. This is a luxuary care and cost enough and 1st should not have this problem and 2nd Audi should fix it before they suffer more from this. The internet indicates that there are many customers suffering from this problem. Come on Audi you are better than this and have a reputation to uphold!

The one issue I was completely aware of was the squeaky brakes on the Q5. Mine has it and it is frustrating. There one day, gone the next. One day it occurs under heavy braking, others on just a feather of the brake pedal.

Sadly a problem like this would convince me not to buy an Audi the next time. Other than this a great vehicle.

Use Ate Plastilube Brake Anti Squeal Compound (Tube) or Loctite Disc Brake Quite (Brush, Stick or Spray can) to solve the problem with the squeaky brakes

There are many threads, here and elsewhere, about aftermarket brake pads which eliminate this problem. Most of these choices also eliminate the excess brake dust from the Audi pads.

Shortly after I posted my displeasure with the Audi Q5 loud breaks in May, 2014 I received several call from AUDI saying that this was being investigated and that I would hear back when a solution was available. Here it is almost November and nothing has happen. I guess it is not that important to AUDI?

Or they don't have any information for you yet?

I find a good brake from high speeds gets the brakes to a high enough temperature and addresses the problem. From what I understand, it is a number of factors which play into the squeeling. This seems to be an immediate, granted short term, fix.

When my new car needed new front pads I went with what I knew best, the Luk Schaffer's.

I had drilled Luk Schaffer rotors and the Carbon Metallic pads on my previous car Audi Allroad Quattro and loved the combo. I totally agree at first they seem almost "soft", but when you get on them they grab just as hard as the stock pads.

So for me that was a benefit because I always felt the car kind of shake slightly when first applying the brakes with the stock pads, but with the cross drilled rotors it's a much more gradual grab so it's smoother braking.

Just registered and wanted to share my story. Took my car for the 40k service and informed the service writer about the pulsating sound I'm hearing when breaking over 80km so the head mechanic came for a test run where he confirmed its coming from the front right side. 3 in the afternoon I received a call saying my pads are ok but my rotors are pitted and need replacing for a cost of $900+. I couldn't believe my ears with my response being this is an Audi with 37000km 23mths old you have to be kidding. I was told I can contact Audi Canada where the rep agreed with my opinion of this should not have happened and will discuss internally. Received a call the next that there's nothing the dealer or Audi Canada can do and that the cause was MOISTURE. I have gotten over their BS explanation and will be machining the rotors something the dealer does not do.
I'm leasing and was planning to purchase but now I'm having doubts.

PS In Dec. car was parked in my garage for 17 days and upon my return the car would not move when in reverse even as I was giving gas until 5 mins after the brake released.

Are these issues normal for an Audi? Never had these or other issues with Jap. mobiles
