At what points would the key need to be in to perform the TBA procedure on an 09 B8 A4 1.8T? I apologise if this has already been asked, I am just a bit confused as my car has the push key start.

Have not tried this on a 2009 and later model, but I would assume that it is the same procedure. Do it without holding the brake so the vehicle does not start.

Push the gas pedal in all the way, push the key in to pre-ignition stage, without holding the brake(so the vehicle does not start) then push the key in again after five seconds to release the ignition, and finally release the gas pedal.

I will verify that this works and will post the results soon.

I did however undertake the following steps to emulate the process mentioned:

1. without foot on brake press key FOB into ignition. all the lights, a/c start to work.
2. press accelerator down in accordance with TBA instructions (i.e. 3 seconds)
3. then press key FOB in ignition again, this disengages the electrical equipment.
4. wait for 2 minutes and then pulled key FOB out of ignition. replaced and started the car

I think it may have worked, but I have only had my car for 3 weeks, so I could be imagining the change in its performance. I will test it in another month when I am more familiar with my car.

Try This:
1. Push the gas pedal in all the way for 5 seconds before putting in the key (keep gas pedal pushed down the whole time till step 4)
2. without foot on brake press key FOB into ignition. all the lights, a/c start to work.

4. release the gas pedal after 5 seconds
5. wait for 2 minutes start the car

 

Hey 1Move thanks for the hints and tips... tried most of them out today.. pretty awesome.. I dont believe my 2003 audi 1.8 is programed for the remote to control the windows though I did try for like 15 min hoping it would work... anyways if there is anything else that would be helpful it would be greatly appreciated... btw i tried to change the service numbers and all it did was reset the number and put dashes... the board is now blank.. not sure if this is whats supposed to happen or a failed attempt.. any help would be appreciated thanks.

 

Yes that is what is supposed to happen and after a certain amount of km's it will come back on.

I just recently bought an Audi A4 as well. Second hand 2006 A4 2.0T
I plan to do the same with the method above, however, is this recently your new and improved method compared to the previous

"Throttle Body Alignment:
put the key and put it into the position just before the starter turns (do not start the car) push the gas peddle all the way wait 3 seconds and turn the key all the way back but do not take it out, now release the gas peddle and wait 2 minutes! remove key than put it back in and start the car! you should notice a better response while pressing the gas do this once every few weeks!"

Hey mike, sorry for the confusion, this is for the B8 model only, with the intelligent key. Your 2006 will still use the old procedure as your vehicle is a B7.

Climate Control
Think most folks know that you push the button with the image of the windshield to get full a full blast of air onto the windshield (defog operation).

Neat thing is if you push that same button a 2nd time, the Climate Control reverts to whatever settings existed before the button was pushed the first time.

Great for example when you have heat going down to your feet but you need to quickly defog the windshield and then return back to heat to the feet - can all be done with 2 button pushes; 1st to defog, 2nd to return to original setting.
