Oil Dip Stick Difficult to Remove
 

My wife just bought a 2019 A3 with 23K kilometers, very clean and good looking car. I was trying to check the engine oil but had a heck of time to pull the oils stick out. Finally I did and it looks like it has 2 small snaps like just under the handle which they grab the tube coming up from the engine. I see no reason for these snaps and i wonder if there is one (I’m thinking to cut them off unless there a reason).

Any idea for the purpose of these snaps?
