looking for info on A6s
Hi there,
I am starting the process of searching for an A6 for my wife. any links or posts you can point me to? just trying to get a handle on years, options and reliability. I think the model changed in 06 (??) so we are looking for that and newer. wife got rid of her jetta when we had our baby and can't wait to get back to VW vehicle. I know nothing about Audis except that they are some damn fine looking machines I also know we can't afford and 'S' If we get an a6 we will likely import one from the US. I have done that before and saved a bunch of money
thanks for any help you can offer!
Rob

Re: looking for info on A6s
Rob, your post is kind of open ended. I would suggest finding a couple of prospective cars and post up the details of each and you will most certainly get our opinions.

Re: looking for info on A6s
Yeah I felt about the same, I tried to go really broad with the A6 info thus why I posted the Wiki. But I agree be a bit more direct and post some listings or something.

Its like me going on a helicopter forum and saying "never owned one tell me about them"?
Sorry to the OP but please try not to abuse the good nature of our members.

Re: looking for info on A6s
to the admin, how am I supposed to decide on which audi I am interested in until I research? asking your opinion on a specific car is putting the cart before the horse at this point in time. I was hoping someone would offer help such as 'don't buy an 07 becasue the 08s are so much better because of this option and that option...' or the like.
I'll go back to corvetteforum where regular members like myself (and members llike rastopa) are willing to help newbs. I couldn't have been more polite in my original post so I don't know what more you want from me.

I always loved audis for the way they looked but more so i needed a four wheel drive but already own a jeep wanted a car.
I own a 06 a6 and i love it. the c6 body style is from 2005-2008, i looked for the 2006 just because i know its always wise to go one year newer from the year of production just to stay clear of any recalls that the previous owner may not have done. Usually those recalls are all fixed up the following year
my whole family owns vws, i love em for the fuel economy and less repair costs for a european car. However you'll find the a6 pretty good on gas (the v. the c6 has the 3.2 v6 and the 4.2 v8. I sprung for the v8 just because ive heard many issues with the v6 exist. Plus the v8 is really powerful! Ive already put 15thousand km on her and never spent a penny except for oilchanges. I bought it at 120thousand. It uses the timing chain as opposed to the belt which is great too!
The car is very smooth and lots of toys inside to play with. I found an S-line in red and it looks sporty and luxurious altogether. It has a stiffer suspenion as well. You'll enjoy it for sure. You can find em cheaper in states for sure but i found the prices pretty decent if your looking for a 2006 in canada. Found mine on trader. Anyway let me know if you have any more questions. I did just buy it in november so just keep that in mind as well.
Good luck!

I have a great condition 05 A6 for sale. 4.2 L v8 and in fantastic shape. I have it listed in the for sale section if you want more details. Love the car and am only selling as I have been offered a deal on an RS6!

Re: looking for info on A6s
Might be a good idea to drive an A6 first, if your wife is coming from a Jetta this is going to be quite a change for her. She may be more comfortable in an A4. Each year had good and bad features, try to get something with warranty remaining, Audi will honour a US car warranty here in Canada.
