Default Slow off-throttle response

I was driving up my long driveway this morning and just for fun, I floored my A6. It was slippery so it accelerated slowly but then got traction and took off. I then let off the throttle but it continued to accelerate. I was approaching the house fast and went to full brake application and ABS was active before the engine finally stopped pulling. This all happened very quickly (perhaps a couple of seconds) but it was scary. I remember noticing this years ago but I had forgotten all about it. It's not my imagination. The car does not immediately respond to throttle release from full throttle which is dangerous.

Anyone else ever notice this?
