I am looking at a 2004 A6 3.0 w 56,000KM or a 2005 A6 3.2 w 80,000km Naturally the 05 is quite a bit more expensive but can be certified by the dealer.

am I likely to encounter fewer problems with the 04 being a more proven model vs the 05 which is the first year for that style and seems like a dramatically different car. I do a lot of hwy driving and am diligent about maintaining my vehicles.

personally i'd go for the 04, it's the last year of that design as you pointed out so all the bugs have been worked out. plus it's got lower k's which is always good, in 3 years the k's will prob matter more than the 1 year difference. With the spare $$ you can buy a set or spare winter wheels or whatever other godies you want.
