Has anyone imported an Audi A6 Quatro 4.2L from the US?

Questions:
I would like to import a 2007 Audi A6 4.2L

1. I have looked at Registrar of Imported Vehicles RIV web site but it is not clear if the A6 Quatro 4.2L is eligible to be imported into Canada from the US. Any suggestions?

2. If it is, what modifications are required?

3. Will Audi provide letter of admissibility and other docs?

Thanks

Make a note - the laws are about to be changed, bringing Canadian bumper standards inline with US and Euro standards.... if the Audi you're looking at isn't importable because of the bumper design, the Motor Vehicle Act should be amended in the next few weeks, allowing these cars to come in unaltered - the change is specifically aimed at easing design/distribution issues for manufacturers and importers!!!

Hey 4CoolKid,

Did you import your A6? is the change from MpH to KPH only a setting like the DRL or there is some parts that need to be changed?

Thanks

both our a4 and a6 are us imports, and both cars are in MPH a change of the speedo is the only way to change that, it is not require to be done. the A4 the DRL was already done and the a6 had to be done. i think that is all that requires changing.

I finally did import a 2008 A6. No modifications or alterations of any kind required. It passed inspection at Canadian Tire without a problem. SAAQ accepted the vehicle and it is now registered in Quebec. Great experience overall. Thanks to all for your responses.

Our two older Audis ('98 A6 QW and '97 A4 2.8Q) needed DRLs AND the child tether anchor modifications, but the child tether thing was done in the U.S. before the vehicles were shipped here, as it USED to be a free retro-fit by Audi USA. No longer.

Newer models look like they already have those fixes, but might be wise to check.

I thought the A6 4.2L ("L" for Long - not Litres) was a chineese market exclusive. Maybe 4coolkid means A6 4.2 Quattro. Also, the RIV takes a while to update their admissability list. Many times cars that are "inadmissable", simply have not had their admissability verified.

I have just brought into Canada an A6 4.2 V8 engine, no problems, paperwork was done very quick just got it the firsat week of June, and no modifications were required.

Beautiful car to drive

Good luck with your buy.
