Door Locks Question?

Hello, I recently bought a 04 Audi A6 Quattro. I was reading through the owners manual trying to figure out how the auto door locks worked. In the manual it says that the doors will automatically lock when the car reaches 15 kph. The manual says that you can have this feature de-activated at a dealer. the dealer says that they have to connect the car to a scanner to make these changes.. Does anyone know how to change this setting without a scanner. if not can anyone recommend a decent scanner that is cost effective? cheers.

The best would be vag-com if you can get a hang of that .. theres no other type of "scanner"
