Audi navigation
Just acquired a 2006 Avant but there is no DVD for the navigation system. Anybody know the price of a new one from Audi or how to get a used one?

Re: Audi navigation
Audi Canada site;
$299 for DVD or $129 for 10 pack CD, Canada. I think you have the DVD. I think they also upgrade at the same time. Alex |

Thanks Alex

Re: Audi navigation
they are always on ebay

Re: Audi navigation
how do you know which version, etc. etc. you should buy? besides for the area you live in of course.
ie: i live in canada, so on with all of North America should be good enough... but there's 30 different versions out there. also, i have what i believe is an rns-e unit, but when i start the car, it says MMI (software?) on that note, when i go on navigation.com/audi and select my type of vehicle, a dvd for 200 bucks comes up with a list of areas that they have updated on. if my area is not on that list, what's the point of buying the newest one? Yay? help? thanks |

Re: Audi navigation
Sorry to leach off your thread but it's related.
I have a 2005 a6 4.2 w/ no navigation system installed. If i acquire the navigation box, would it be worth it to try and connect it or would I have to feed the wires all the way through the car starting from the trunk all the way into the MMI? I'm hoping there's a small chance somewhere (even halfway) there's cables I can connect the navigation unit too so I don't have to rip apart the poor car. |
Re: Audi navigation
I'd suggest you make sure you can get the current maps before you proceed with upgrades.

Re: Audi 2009 navigation
Hi guys,
Just got a 2009 A4 2.0 without NAV. Any idea where I can find the audi Nav system unit....either used or well priced for new. I wanted to remove the unit in the car now and replace it with the Nav unit if possible. I can't find a unit anywhere. thxs |
Re: Audi navigation
Can a Newer version of the MMI Nav DVD be found on a Torrent site that anyone knows of?
|
Re: Audi navigation
It happens I was driven in the service shuttle (RoyalOak)-Q7.
The vehicle is 2 months old. Navigation reflected maps 2 years old (even the dealership and surroundings were not on the map). No newer versions. Moral: Navigation in the car (on disk) is useless and complete waste of $$$ - unless one uses it as entertaining devise. Happy I never opted for one. |
Re: Audi navigation
Really!!!!!! So you are telling me that the Navigation in the Audi MMI systems are useless and no where near as accurate as lets say a Garmin Nuvi 250?
Can you and others confirm this before i spend money buying a DVD? |
Re: Audi navigation
the new 2010 maps for the rnse are 199 from the dealer or navteq the sw update is on the dvd the newest sw is 260 (beware this will disable the video input) so you cant add a dvd player or tv tuner.
The rnse does say mmi on start up but is a totally different system to the mmi in the newer cars, seperate screen and is hard disc based not dvd like the rnse i fitted the rnse im my 02 a4 as long as you have the symphony 2 it is a straight swap plug and play you just have to find somewhere to put the gps antenna. got mine from ebay there seems to be a few on there most of the time. |
Re: Audi navigation
my rnse nav is very accurate mine is still the 06 map remember even if you get the brand new 2010 maps the mapping was done in 09 so they are always out of date from other garmin devices i have used it is just as accurate.

Re: Audi navigation
So just to get this straight again... The 2006 A8 has a perfectly good navigation Screen and set up and is only needing a navigation DVD and yet am I to understand that even if i buy a Navigation DVD from Audi or one for $40.00 off EBay (version 5 or 6 ) that once installed it will be useless and not be accurate mapping for Canada?
Am i to understand this? can anyone tell me this is untrue or true? |
Re: Audi navigation
I have an allroad, 2005 with no updates to the system.
Most roads are digitized and are on the DVD. I have very little trouble with accuracy and most are related to changes since 2005. New subdivisions etc. I have noticed that the voice overs sometimes says turn right but the map shows left. I go with the map. I will not be upgrading until I need new software or a new DVD. New roads in Canada are not in the Toronto area so do not effect me. If you are spending money for the DVD because you do not have one, it is worth it. Accuacry is not a problem that I have encountered. Alex |
Re: Audi navigation
just what alex said if you get the 2010 disc it will be accurate. there is no way to be 100%up to date if you buy the disc and 6 months later there is a brand new division made it will not show that on the map. i still use a 06 map and it is fine

Re: Audi navigation
Thanks Alex & Jamieta.... I will try to either download one from a torrent site or get one from EBay for $40.00 Any idea what version would be considered safe for accurate mapping for Ontario?

Re: Audi navigation
Hey Greenmachine99,
What the correct process of upgrading the maps from this DVD? Do I just put it in and it will take me through the process? OR are there special instructions? Thanks, |
Re: Audi navigation
I have one I can sell if anyone needs an RNSe nav disc. I sold my S4 and had a couple of extras from upgrading over the years. I sold it with the 2007 disc it came with, but have 2 newer ones.
