2010 A-6 3.0Oil Burning Every 1000Miles

2010 A-6 with 120k miles. Oil light started every 1500 miles, now at every 1000. Audi says for $1500 they will replace rear seal, but was not very definitive that would be the fix.
Anyone have similar problem and a fix?
