Hi;
My '01 A6 alarm is apparently deciding now to trip of its own accord. All the remote key functions seem to work properly, but about 30 secs. (or sometimes longer) after arming the horn and lights let go, as if someone was trying to enter. There is no motion from inside the car, ie: pet.
If I lock the car from the inside using the drivers door lock button and exit the car from the passenger side (and manually pushing that door's lock button down) and close the door, all is locked and well (so far). However, I believe locking the car THAT way does not arm the alarm (as there is no blinking red 'armed' light on the door) so ultimately is not an adaquate solution.
Anybody else run into this or am I sufering from finger fumble somehow?

Bill, is this happening at work + your home ?
Only in the evening or both day and night ?

I ask because you never know if someone is tripping it un-purpose.
That being said, have you thought about taking it over to a shop to look over?
I know Davis at selective sounds is very honest and likely would barely charge you to trouble shoot the alarm issue.

Just a thought.

It's happened at three different places (so not RT interference) and at five different times of the day and night. Also happened while I was just standing there looking at her, so its not anybody doing something on purpose.
So I was wondering if there was some kind of rerack or reboot that one can do to help reset its brain. Kinda like a process similar for resetting the remote key. Otherwise removing fuse no. 14 might solve the problem, but not provide a solution. I'm not so keen on taking her in to a shop as trying to track down a 'transitent electrical anomaly' can run into big bucks, but I'll keep your shop in mind. Where are they located?

Since this is such an active and helpful forum........ I'll mention that after checking that the interior lights came on with each door opening (indicating that sensor is functioning) I moved to the hood and found that when closed, it was less than snug (slight vertical play). Tightened it up and have had no problems so far.

Thanxs for your earlier interest. Yes, you are correct, I posted my 'loose hood solution' under the 'Technical' Forum as well, since I had posted my query over there too.
BTW, pulling fuse #14 did prevent the alarm from arming (and therefore triggering on), but also lost power to the interior lights AND power windows/moonroof. Unacceptable. The interm solution was to lock the car using the drivers door lock, (a little gymnastics involved since the door needed to be closed) which allowed the fuse to power everything EXCEPT arming the alarm.

Hi guys I'm new here. Can you help me?

I have a 2001 A4 saloon 2.0 se and the alarm goes off on its own. Usually in the evening time. I can't take it anymore. I wake up middle of the night and have to leave the car unlocked. I sent the car to Audi to fix but it hasn't yet worked. All the sensors on the car are fine. They replaced the alram itself and turned down the sensors but I'm having no luck. When the alarm goes off no light come on.

Have you tried hitting the alarm sensitivty button on the front of the driver's side b pillar? It is right above the trunk button on my A6 Avant.
Supposedly this makes the interior alram less sensitive.
Worked for me anyway.
