Rust on 2001 A6

Re: Rust on 2001 A6
Is it where two body panels are joining? Could have been hit/repaired with a slightly tweaked frame, causing body panels to rub. Cars are symmetrical, the gaps shouldn't vary - a KEY thing to look for when buying a car.

Re: Rust on 2001 A6
As someone who works as for Audi and has had the Rust Warranty approved for my own car, let's get the facts straight:
Audi has a "10 Year Unlimited Mileage Rust Warranty" on every car for North America.
It must be rusting from the inside out, and is subject to inspection from an Audi Head Office Associate through your Dealer. It is recommended that the bodyshop be an approved establishment by Audi or your Dealer, mainly because Audi Paints are zinc based and should only be tened to by people that know what they're doing and also the Warranty is a ONE TIME DEAL ONLY. The last thing you want is for the rust to return...
Cars that have been re-painted, or that have been in an accident are not eligible. They must be in original factory condition for consideration.

Re: Rust on 2001 A6
Well you working at Audi are wrong my friend as it is 12 years...............
"Body Protection Warranty
All current Audi vehicles are fully protected during manufacture against rust attacking the internal cavities of the bodywork for 12 years from the date of first registration.
The only preconditions are:
The defect must be reported to a member of the Audi authorised network as soon as it is discovered. This must, of course, be within the warranty period
The perforation must not have been caused originally by damage, neglect, insufficient care or maintenance, or by external rusting
A member of the Audi authorised network must be advised about any rusting immediately
it is found
All body repairs will be carried out promptly in accordance with the manufacturer’s technical guidelines, using only approved parts and materials, in order to maintain the original level of anti-corrosion protection
Audi Warranty
General terms and condition"
This was taken from a pdf document from Audi. So you need to get your facts straight
