Riken Raptor Tires
Just ordered some new Tires for the Audi, THE Riken® Raptor™ ZR. Made by BFGOODRICH, has anyone tried these tires? There really low priced, I found them for $650.00 installed and balanced for 4 new tires. 255/40/17

Re: Riken Raptor Tires
LOL! I've heard they are made by Michelin and now I have just read that they are made by BFGOODRICH. Where have I heard such nonsense a million times?
None of this nonsense i've just read is true. You have fallen victim to a typical Performance Shop trick. They all say that the shitty tires are made by some kind of American manufacturer to instill trust in your average ***...
Let me let you in on the BS. These Riken Raptor tires are Chinese tires as are Federal, Triangle, YKS, etc.... These tires are junk. They all fall under one category; your low cost entry level stuff coming in as imports out of China. Some shops will even tell you that American companies own them in an attempt to get you to buy them. Some of those tires don't have your belt stiffeners, your bead wedges, etc...What your typical , average guy sees is, "jeez, I can get 4 for $300 - $400. I can afford these today...." What the average guy is not finding out is that there are a lot of safety features put into those higher end tires as a direct result of research and development. For the cheaper tire company, to reduce those costs, they have to take out such features and those are safety and performance features.
Stay away from these low end products. It's pretty easy to realize what is cheap. "Made In China", weird name, etc...= stay the hell away. The performance shops throw packages at you for a reason. To grab the buyer by the ***** and make money. Volume. The faster they sell, the more money they make, so a cheap tire is an attractive tire to the guy that doesn't know any better. The lack of consumer knowledge feeds into their frenzy.

Re: Riken Raptor Tires
Hopefully you can still cancel the order, however names like Kumho, Falken, Toyo, and Sumitomo were all once one of these "cheap brands" that you've warned the original poster. Now they make some of the best bang for the buck reliable tires out there today.

Re: Riken Raptor Tires
Every tire has to weather the storm ( no pun intended ), but let me advise you that none of the tires you havementioned are CHINESE brand tires.

Re: Riken Raptor Tires
I too have heard that the Rikens are lower-end tires, probably not worthy of the A6 4.2. This is not a place to scrimp, especially with all that power on tap from the 4.2. A set of Falken FK 462's will be about $900, and for a measly $100 more you can get Michelin Pilots!
