Default purchasing my first a6

Hey all, I am looking to purchase my first A6 this year. its a 2001, 138k iles, 2.7t with the elusive 6 speed. i have gone over the car, and mechanically it seems sound to me. i have done pretty much anything that can be done on cars, including an engine swap into a wrangler so mechanically this a6 doesnt scare me if there is service to eb done. how ever, i was wondering if there is/are any specifics i should investigat eon the vehical before i drop 6k. the car is on its third own right now, but i know it has been babied by this and the previous owner, current owner has two rs6's...yea i know wtf haha. but anyways, it was stage one chipped with green switch cooldown fans put in on the turbos, and the led boost gauge indash that you see in many modified s4's was installed by the second owner. save for a scrape mark on the bumper from being rubbed in a parking lot the car is imaculate. any advice before i dive into the audi club?

Check for Oil Leaks and CV Boot their both common issues, and check to see that the Clutch is still good and responsive!! Other that that I have the 2.8litre A6 and LOVE it!! Hope it all works out!

timing belt was done 27 or 28 thousand miles ago. clutch was very good. the second owner, who put on most of the miles and did the upgrades, took very good care of it right down to putting the indash led boost gauge.

Just do a pre-purchase inspection. Before doing any upgrades to the turbo be sure to have a compression and leakdown test otherwise turbo upgrades are useless. Make sure you're aware of all the options the vehicle has such as RNS-E, Sport Package, Warm Weather, etc. Check the infamous A6 upper/lower control arms at the front of the car as well as the valve cover/cam chain tensioners for leakage.

Sounds cool. I would love to upgrade my Symphony to a Bose with RNS-E. I did the hidden equalizer adjustment and it turned out to be great. These hidden system settings make a world of difference.

One more thing, be sure to check the condition of all the turbo related stuff. From what I understand improper care of the turbos leads to premature replacement.

well i'm thinking the turbo's weren't subjected to excessive start-up or cooldown wear just because the previous owner put the "green switch"(runs the fan after the car is shut down) to cool the engine bay better. Someone along the way even bought a new throttle body boot, wear the clamps tear adn you lose boost, but has never had to replace it yet. I did notice after crawling around under the front end that i have a small oil leak, i assume from the valve covers. but its an 11 year old car, these things are expected. compaired to other cars i have driven, my last was a 94 wrangler with offroad lift, i love my audi. is there an cold air kit you would suggest to use?

Honestly, I spoke to many other Audi owners back when I was a part of Audiworld and they mention that the factory intake on the 2.8 30V, 2.7T and 4.2 40V motors flow more than enough air for even upgraded engines. Unless you really want to look cool under the hood or you want that loud suction sound you probably wouldn't need to upgrade your stock intake. I've seen some from Carbonio and LLTek but honestly I'd save the money and build one myself. Just be sure to have a heatshield to prevent heatsoak.

Valve covers seem to be easy to do, I'll be doing mine as soon as they arrive and I'll be posting pics. I think my cam chain tensioner gaskets are leaking as well but I don't know the procedure and I don't know how to set my engine to TDC without removing the bumper.
