New A6 2.7t owner advice...
Hey guys,
I just bought a 2000 A6 2.7t with over 300km/h not too long ago and I was just checking in on things to look out for. I was told that before I bought it the timing belt was changed and rear and front brakes were done. The guy I bought the A6 from also told me mechanically the car is in good condition and with good care the car should last a long while. Earlier today I went to a mechanic because I smelt a burning smell vaguely everytime I reved over 3 RPM. The mechanic said I was burning oil and that I need to change the vavle gasket very soon.
I have no prior experience with Audi's so I have no idea what the pros/cons of this car are. What do you think I should look out for? How long would you guys guess a car like this would last (Km wise) if I drive like Ms.Daisy? Is this car worth spending money on if I intended to keep the car for atleast a year or two with not too many problems?
Are there any good Audi/German car shops in the downtown toronto/ East end area that won't try to rip me off?
Driving this car is amazing to me but I'm not trying to spend serious money to keep this car going if it wants to die.
Please help!
Thanks,
Rico

Well, Audi or not... in my opinion any car with 300,000 kms on it has got to be near the end of it's life! (Assuming that's what you meant by "000 A6 2.7t with over 300km/h")
I can't help you with shops in TO, but there's lots of information here to read through!
Good luck!

I have the same car, but with only 175,000 kms, so I can't say how long it should last past 300,000, but the leaking valve gasket with a burning oil smell is a common problem with these engines - not too hard to fix.

^ Agreed
The Audi chassis is well protected for rust... everything after that is mechanically repairable. If a first gen VW Beetle record of over 1 million miles is achievable, I'm sure a modern Audi can do well over 300K KMs!

Re: New A6 2.7t owner advice...
Just an FYI my A6 2.7t just clicked over the 200k mark, mind you I just had both turbos replaced but the engine feels strong like it was new from the factory. Really wanted to go with the K04's but that cost was not in the budget so I settled on the K03's......maybe it's time to go stage I.
