To HID or Not
I keep seeing a lot of adds for the HID kits for Audi's. It looks like everyone is going this way.
I have a couple of questions about it and hope you folks can help me.
1) is it hard to DYI this. I'm pretty handy with these kinds of things and I just want to know how easy it is to do.
2) What is the upside? I have a A6 and the lenses are nice and clear but I find that when I drive at night the lights don't give me the vision I want. But I see other cars with the HID and I find it really bright when they pass me.
3) I see there are bulbs that say they are as bright as the full ballast and Xenon lights. Is this true or are they blowing smoke?
4) Are there LED replacement bulbs for Low Beams? I have seen something for the highs but not the lows?
Any insight is welcome.

Re: To HID or Not
I actually just performed an HID projector retrofit on my a6 avant a few weeks ago. I took the stock halogen projectors apart and replaced them with a mirimoto mini H1 projector housing and added an aftermarket HID kit. The difference is unbelievable in comparison to even the stock projectors with an HID kit in them. You get the same or more light output then the good japenese projectors (acura TL, TSX) with an extremely sharp and dead clear cut off. When thinking about HID's make sure you have the proper projector for the job. Halogen projectors (most aftermarket headlights) will cause some glare and the light output will be blotchy and not as clear, where HID specific projectors will have sharp, clear and even light output.
