Glove Box Locked Forever

Glove Box Locked Forever
I got a 1998 Audi A6. Last week I snapped the glove box hydraulic so it just opened and closed really fast instead of slowly. I didn't really care so I just left it. Then the first time I locked it since it seems to have locked forever. The key turns but it does not open so it must be the latch or something. I have the regular key too, not the valet one.
I've went to a locksmith who said he couldn't do anything and said I'd have to take it to a dealer. A dealer is going to be 100 bucks an hour and I do not have the money for that.
Any ideas how to get in this thing without breaking it? I've removed the plastic on the side and there are a few small holes in there I can poke my fingers through but I am not sure what I am looking for...

get on your back and look under neath the dash where it hinges.. I don't know if you can but sometimes you can take the scres out the hinge on the dash side and make it swing forward.. Just a suggestion as i don't know how they are bolted/screwed in..
