Flashing Climate Control Display on 1998 A6
I made the mistake last Friday of leaving my lights on after parking. On 1998 A6's, the headlights don't stay on, but the parking lights and rear lights do stay on. I only had the lights on for 4 hours and my battery died, that shouldn't happen as the draw isn't that great for those lights. The next day, I noticed that the climate control was flashing. It flashes for exactly 3 minutes everytime I start the car. EXACTLY 3 minutes. I thought maybe it was the weak battery affecting the alternator so I had the battery replaced at the shop. The climate control still flashes. I used my OBD II coded reader and there are no error codes. I went to the dealership and VAG COM showed no errors as well. The AUDI techs were at a loss for what the problem was. The controls and heating still work fine, car drives fine etc...Has anyone had this issue before. Currently, it's just a nuisance issue more than anything else, but I'd still like to sort it our as it drives me crazy for 3 minutes of night driving.
Any help would be great. Thanks, Scott.

Hey Scott,
Well hopefully this is another one for the books where I win against the techs
When in Vag-Com go to
Module #8 - Heating/ Air Conditioning
then go to Measuring Blocks
Chose to Measure Block ##**** and wait till the numbers stabilize about 3 minutes.
**** Wait till i get home and give you the correct measuring block. i think it is #55 but not 100% sure
That should fix it my friend

I have the same problem with my 98 A6. Do you know if the fix you described works and was #55 the right measuring block?
Thanks,
Cam

Re: Flashing Climate Control Display on 1998 A6
Hi there I was looking in the manual because my 1998 A6 Does this as well. The Flashing is to allow the car to heat up before the Ventilation comes on. It so that when you start the car you dont end up with I blast of cold air in the face
